Mark Zuckerberg splashes out $170M on just 1.84 acres in Miami as he becomes the latest billionaire to flee California

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his pediatrician wife Priscilla Chanhave bought a waterfront mansion in Miami that’s still under construction...

The property on ultra-exclusive Indian Creek Island, otherwise known as ‘Billionaire Bunker,’ was on the market for $200 million. The price that Zuckerberg and Chan agreed to pay: a colossal $170 million.

A message seeking comment from Zuckerberg was not returned by press time.

The couple’s move from California to Florida follows in the recent footsteps of fellow online billionaires Sergey Brin and Larry Page, who are the co-founders of Google. They’re fleeing the Golden State as California prepares to vote on a proposal to implement a one-time 5% tax on its billionaire residents, of whom there are currently around 246 in the state.

Zuckerberg’s future home on Indian Creek Island, No. 7, had been on the market for 111 days. While it was slated for a late 2026 completion, it now may be 18 months away from a move-in date, sources added.

The property sits on 1.84 acres and comes with 200 feet on Biscayne Bay. But there’s something else that sets it apart.

“This is a record, historic price for Miami Dade county — and the house isn’t even finished. The buyers still have to design their space,” lawyer Amanda H. Bender, of Stein, Bender & Brookland, who represened the sellers, told Gimme Shelter.

Design details include a sweeping staircase, a large chef’s kitchen and stunning water views. It’s currently set to be a nine-bedroom residence with 11 baths, four powder rooms, a den/library/home office, a media room and a recreation room.

That’s a good thing. Actions are much more important than words.

If he didn’t cash out in California, they’ll probably still treat him as a resident.

Gee guys, why are you leaving California?

YOU VOTED FOR AND SUPPORTED THAT CRAP FOR DECADES!

They should be forced to stay and live in what they created.

I haven’t rented (except to others as a landlord) in 42 years. I move when I want to move, not when a landlord wants me to move. I modify my homes to fit my life and add value. I employ tax avoidance strategies that few think/know about with my homes and my second homes, turning them into moneymakers and flipping them at will tax-free.

My home ownership strategies are part of how I retired easily at 60.

for the waste, fraud and corruption

It isn't the waste, fraud and corruption that causes socialim to fail every time. Socialism's basic assumptions are flawed. It's the economic equivalent of a perpetual motion machine combined with a Ponzi scheme. It's fundamental premises are false don't work and can NEVER work. No matter how it's disguised or how it's tweaked it can't work. Though a lot of credulous morons (i.e. New Yorkers and other Democrat voters) WANT to think it can.

“They should be forced to stay and live in what they created.”

Stupidity isn’t illegal in this case. And, since they are rich and moving, it sounds like they aren’t stupid. What’s stupid is people can build wealth through real estate but most don’t know how so they stagnate even as homeowners.

Smart people aren’t a problem. Uneducated, short-sighted people cause their own problems.

First they sell them the values. Then they sell them the plan that those values support.

Classic advertising.

“It isn’t the waste, fraud and corruption that causes socialism to fail every time.”

************

Concentrating excessive power and authority in the government creates opportunities for abuse and having a monopoly of control inevitably leads to corruption by government officials. That, and the creation of ‘equality of misery’ are major causes of its failure.

Bill Gates has an ocean front home in southern California.

Obama and wife used to rent an ocean front property every summer on Martha's Vineyard.

Zuckerberg's property is actually a couple hundred yards from the Atlantic Ocean, surrounded by the Intercoastal Waterway.

One of these years, a 140 mph hurricane is going to make land fall on Miami Beach, and the residential flood damage will be in the billions of dollars.

I was referencing DeSantis being term-limited as Florida’s Governor. He has been a terrific Governor of Florida and I wish he could continue.

Many Liberals are “escaping” California to Florida. I was thinking that a strong Governor is needed by that state.
