U.S. Central Command declared Monday that Iran’s naval presence in the Gulf of Oman has been reduced to “ZERO,” announcing that every Iranian warship operating in the strategic waterway at the outset of Operation Epic Fury has been destroyed as American forces struck more than 1,250 targets in the first 48 hours of the campaign.

From what I can find, that is 11% of Iran’s navy.
Partially. China will still have trouble because the straight of Hormuz is so narrow and exposed along Iran’s shores for miles. Iran has tons of missiles that can nail the narrow shipping lane. In fact you could almost do it with field artillery (not quite, but close).
But screw China.
They’re all submarines now.
> Iran has had decades to create protected launch sites,<
Which was aided by pallets of cash.
This prescient speech was given on the Senate floor eleven years ago. This man may well be known as the best Secretary of State ever.
Possibly but that is not a telling % given most of their navy is not much more than glorified speed boats.
Dangerous to an extent but useless in projecting real power and limited in defense as they are pretty much kamikaze craft.
Gulf of Oman, ok. What about those inside the Persian Gulf?
Are you implying somehow, we are not being successful?
Why can’t America ever have a win?
If I were Trump I would keep my foot firmly on the gas until we get the regime change that WE want
Those very desirable goals would be only transitory if a theocratic regime remains in place.
The declared justification for this second strike after the supposed total elimination of Iran's nuclear strike capacity is that the present theocratic regime was undertaking to rebuild its nuclear threat.
Are we to suppose that the same fanatical jihad will pass away into the ether simply because we spanked them again?
Literally every regime in that area of the world is transitory. Even a perfect outcome tomorrow in Iran for us can easily end up a tyrannical regime in a year.
That is one of the lessons people keep forgetting that Iran taught the world on Nov 4th, 1979, and why we are here today.
The point you make is naïve imo when one understands history and that every 4 years, we risk an idiot liberal being elected who will create this kind of mess again. I more about our elections than the perfect regime in Iran.

It’s up to the Iranian people to take matters in their own hands, we can only do so much for them.
Look at Afghanistan, we were there for 20 years, and they still got the Taliban ruling over them.
I read that they did sink one Iranian sub that was in some proximity to one of our carriers.
We can’t claim that one. If I understand correctly it was deployed on a three hour tour, but the weather starting getting rough, and the tiny ship was tossed. And if it wasn’t for the courage of the fearless crew… the minnow would have been lost.
Their entire fleet are submarines now.
“Eleven ships”
If there were more, they’d also be “floating on the bottom”....
I tend to think they took out the strongest boats, because the rest would just be clean up.
Iran just needs to ride it out until we have our own prog tyrants back in place.

Hind sight is Always 20-20 my good man ,
The Real Question of course;
Ginger or MaryAnn?
