Those very desirable goals would be only transitory if a theocratic regime remains in place.
The declared justification for this second strike after the supposed total elimination of Iran's nuclear strike capacity is that the present theocratic regime was undertaking to rebuild its nuclear threat.
Are we to suppose that the same fanatical jihad will pass away into the ether simply because we spanked them again?

Literally every regime in that area of the world is transitory. Even a perfect outcome tomorrow in Iran for us can easily end up a tyrannical regime in a year.
That is one of the lessons people keep forgetting that Iran taught the world on Nov 4th, 1979, and why we are here today.
The point you make is naïve imo when one understands history and that every 4 years, we risk an idiot liberal being elected who will create this kind of mess again. I more about our elections than the perfect regime in Iran.
Iran just needs to ride it out until we have our own prog tyrants back in place.
I think that it's more likely because we killed them. Layer after layer of the leadership is being eliminated this time. Those radicals will have no say in the future of Iran.
