Agree.
Salute.
This is just one of countless stories that make me absolutely seethe when leftists trash being white, being Christian, and even just being male. That man essentially offered up his life to try to save the lives of Jews in his unit.
But we're all evil, right?
I am sad it took so long for him to be honored.
All the other men who stepped forward should be recognized, in some manner, as well.
“Battle of the Bulge in January 2045”
Lets just hope we never again have another incident like that these days in the 22nd century.
I wanted to know more after I read your post. This is what I found:
Sometime in January 1945 the Germans announced that all Jewish POWs in Stalag IXA were to report the following morning. Master Sergeant Edmonds, who was in charge of the prisoners, ordered all POWs—Jews and non-Jews alike—to stand together. When the German officer in charge saw that all the camp’s inmates were standing in front of their barracks, he turned to Edmonds and said, “They cannot all be Jews.” To this Edmonds replied, “We are all Jews.” The German took out his pistol and threatened Edmonds, but the Master Sergeant did not waver and retorted, “According the Geneva Convention, we have to give only our name, rank, and serial number. If you shoot me, you will have to shoot all of us, and after the war you will be tried for war crimes.” The German gave up, turned around, and left the scene.
Wonderful news.
Thanks to those who got this through.
He deserved it when he was alive, but better late than never.
I’ve noticed an increase in antisemitic content lately, even on conservative sites, so this is refreshing to see.
“I am Spartacus!”
Very!
It would have been justified to shoot every single SS Officer on the spot at the camps, and in some cases, that’s exactly what happened.
There can't be many of those about.
