𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗘𝗹𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗸 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱 #1 𝗼𝗻 Forbes 250 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁
The Forbes 250: America's Greatest Innovators list was published on February 11, 2026, as part of Forbes’ yearlong “#forbes250” initiative celebrating America's 250th birthday ( #America250). This ranking highlights the top 250 living American innovators who embody the spirit of entrepreneurial capitalism—focusing not just on invention, but on commercializing breakthroughs, disrupting industries, and creating new ones, much like Thomas Edison.

The list was compiled by tapping Forbes beat reporters for nominations (nearly 1,000 candidates), then evaluating based on impact, scale of disruption, and ability to bring innovations to market profitably.

Elon Musk tops the list at #1.
FORBES explicitly highlights #ElonMusk’s unparalleled track record as the only person in history to have founded (or grown from nearly nothing) five companies, each achieving multibillion-dollar valuations and operating in entirely different industries:

Tesla (electric vehicles and sustainable energy)

SpaceX (space exploration and rockets)

Neuralink (brain-machine interfaces)
xAI (artificial intelligence)

The Boring Company (infrastructure and tunneling)

This feat sets him apart historically—no one else has scaled such diverse, high-impact ventures across sectors like automotive, aerospace, neurotechnology, AI, and infrastructure. His work is seen as transforming entire industries and pushing the boundaries of what's possible, fueling economic and technological progress in line with the “American Dream” theme of the series.

I heard that the honor was offered to Al Gore, but he turned it down.
There was no money in it.

Musk got his start by creating PAYPAL.
Used by millions to buy stuff on line without having to give out credit card # to sellers.

He is not the correct choice. AI is dominant, and his role in that was very minor.

I'd say for all time.....except maybe for Nikola Tesla.

Tesla was named after Nikola...who invented AC....and changed the world. Elon said Nikola never got the prestige he deserved. There are a couple awesome statues in Niagara falls of Nikola. Google and enjoy.

He’s for sure in the running

Ideas
Focus
Ability to pick and manage great people

He has this in spades

Truly a great man in this way

Space X is the big hit to me

AI could be too

And he freed the internet and our ability to communicate their and access info

Truly incredible

Providential and fortuitous

He’s why Zuck and Bezos etc moved to center center right

Now if he could create a new Google YouTube and Wikipedia

Elon Musk is likely a reincarnation of Benjamin Franklin.

Elon even has an eye for the ladies like Franklin exhibited in Paris.

I am glad they chose Elon Musk.
