Super Bowl commercials reportedly aim to target a less traditional audience ahead of the NFL title game on Sunday.
Though the league's championship game has often been associated with older men, major companies are using the game to reach out to both Gen Z and female viewers with their latest advertisements.
"[I]f we had made something that didn’t speak to Gen Z or didn’t appeal to women, I think we would have been missing the mark," Laura Jones, chief marketing officer of Instacart, told Variety on Wednesday.
Super Bowl ratings reached record levels in 2025 with approximately 127.7 million people tuning in to the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.
This broke the previous record set one year prior in 2024 at about 123.4 million viewers.
With more viewers than ever before expected to watch the Big Game between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots, major companies are hoping to appeal to the widest audience possible, which includes a growing female demographic.
"We are seeing female viewership in sports hold or continue to rise," Mars Snacking senior director Diane Sayler told Variety. "And I do think that networks and leagues are getting better at telling the story of the players and telling more than just the story on the field. And I actually believe that is what is driving a lot more female interest in this space."

I noticed a couple of things while watching my beloved Pats dissolve in front of my eyes:
*There were a couple of ads about people finding new places to live. The commercials showed a mother and a single child. While one of those ads brought in a father at the very end…the message was clear: Single moms are buying homes. (Not exactly accurate.)
*There are a couple of what I call, “affirmation” ads. These are the ads that show children that “they can do anything” and “they are special.” What they don’t show is learning skills and working really, really hard to succeed.
*And of course, White Men are considered the court jesters of American Life these days. They are often not portrayed at all…or they are fools.
It was really easy to walk away from that mess early in the second half.
It seems the culture that seems to aspire to equality and fairness and affirmations is just a bunch of bullies who want to have their fans think, “I deserve success, even if I ignore all of the proven keys to earning it.”
I quit watching the NFL when they went to the new kickoff format. It just looks so ridiculous.
Now that the Oscars, traditionally the biggest night for women, is leaving network television for Big Tech premium, they need to pour the money somewhere else.
I thought they were wanting to reach the gay crowd now. Especially having Bad Bunny do the half time disaster.

But the local radio show this morning asked the one conservative guy, after saying "since the half-time show (with all the pre-game rhetoric) ended up just being about "global unity"...why he wanted to watch the "conservative" show instead?
...as if to say THEIR half-time show was about unity/harmony, so that means the conservative counter was one of insular tribalism/racism.
I'm sure that sentiment(meme) was being shared across (leftist) MSM today.

The main goal of the NFL was to jump in and tarnish the kickkoff of the 250 year celebration with an event spectacle featuring a foreign language that robbed Americans of their American identity.

This is no surprise except advertising groups for the game weren’t smart enough to figure this out years ago. Women compromise better than half of the gender breakdown in the US by a tiny amount, so saying the advertising companies are missing half their audience is very sound. Not real bright.

As a kind-of-a-Jew, the Jewish Ad sucked, and the Christian Ad was just okay.
Wish both were lots better.
