Douglas bought the bread on September 22, 2025, at the Walmart store located at 1575 Space Center Drive in Colorado Springs, per the lawsuit.
The loaf of MarketSide-branded bread allegedly had a 'sell-by' label placed directly over its preparation instructions.
This included the detail that the bread was actually a 'take and bake' product, rather than ready-to-eat.
A Colorado man sued Walmart after he claimed to suffer 'severe' injuries from eating raw bake-to-eat bread that allegedly expanded in his stomach.
Jordan T. Douglas, of El Paso County, said he spent three days at UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central after ingesting the bread from the bog box retailer.
Douglas filed a personal injury lawsuit on Tuesday in district court, alleging the bread sent him rushing to the hospital after repeatedly vomiting.
He claimed medical imaging showed a 'gastrointestinal obstruction caused by the expansion of uncooked dough', per the complaint obtained by Courthouse News.
He also alleged Walmart obscured the product's preparation instructions with a 'sell-by' label.
As a result, Douglas said he believed the bread was 'substantially baked' and already safe to consume.
He ate the loaf during his lunch break but soon developed 'severe abdominal pain and related symptoms.'
Douglas accused Walmart of 'altering product packaging' in a way that created an 'unreasonable risk of harm to customers.' He is seeking compensatory damages.

Unfortunately.
Jordan T. Douglas makes Ernest T. Bass look like a friggin’ genius!
I would be too embarrassed to even sue about that.
Even with pre-flavored cookie dough, they warn you DO NOT EAT THE UNCOOKED DOUGH! If people do anyway (and some do) they are deciding to take their own chances.
They need no label it more clearly for people who can't tell the difference between baked bread and raw dough.
The plaintiff could win this one.
On the day I had chemistry lab as a freshman, my classes went 8:00-3:00, No time for lunch. So I would eat pancakes and chug a pint of milk in the cafeteria to get all swoled up to survive ‘til mid-afternoon. I hurt a bit, but never sued anybody.
People who can’t tell the difference between baked bread and raw dough should probably be in an assisted living facility.
When they’re not standing in the street blowing whistles at ICE officers.
I seem to recall a similar incident re-guarding birth control pills. A french man sued over this. He took the pills not his wife who got pregnant...The instructions did not state that the women needed to take them...Vive la France!
Good job
Here’s your sign.
In Cocolocorado, marijuana is “legal.” Did this guy have major case of the munchies?
Is this guy have a sister? After they “legalized” marijuana, a lady bought a marijuana brownie, but did not read the label. It stated “just one bite.” She ate the entire brownie and ended up in the ER.
Not to mention the risks of wearing it on your head.
Or the risksof putting it in your car's fuel tank.
Or the risks of your dog eating it ("EDS" - Exploding Dog Syndrome).
Or the risks of using it in hand-to-hand combat.
Lol
I can’t see how this is even moving forward.
Grocery stores have ‘par baked’ bread that is removed from the oven just before the browning. All they require is to be baked for 10 min or so to heat them up and brown them, giving them that fresh baked taste and feel.
No way anything expanded in his stomach - it would have had to have been completely uncooked, wet, gloppy dough but even then it would not have expanded in his stomach if he had chewed it.
This stupid lawsuit reminds me of the stupid woman who sued a contraceptive jelly manufacturer because she put it on toast and ate it instead of using it properly and got pregnant.
That might be the worst part.
Maybe it was a homosex practice that blew up ?
Maybe he’s not old enough to remember the Barney Miller episode.
Maybe the chump is hoping the jury is as stupid as he is.
Our time was 7:30-3:30.. man, you had it easy.. 8^0
Did he save the label, the uneaten portion, the hospital bills, the medical imaging, the doctor’s report, etc? And did he make a video with a phone? Everyone has a phone and films everything. AND we are to believe not one single other person has taken take and bake bread from Walmart? I have taken those home before. The bread is pretty much cooked all the way through. Baking it just warms it up really.
Hmmmm. How good are the bus stop bench lawyers?
