It's kind of suspicious how many technicalities have been cited as reasons for not wanting to drag the gang-activity-plagued lake.
If you were a city councilwoman, and your district included a derelict lake run by gangs, roughly in front of the Mexican consulate, and it was believed to contain a lot of dead bodies, wouldn't you want the potential mass grave cleared?

Well, the one who represents Los Angeles's MacArthur Park lake reportedly doesn't.
She's denied it, of course.
But the California Post reports that a private bid to use sonor to scan the bottom of the lake to locate all the bodies, weapons, and trash, was halted by one Los Angeles City Councilwoman Eunisses Hernandez, who doesn't want that done, citing a park ranger.
According to the California Post:
A high-tech search for dead bodies, guns and other criminal evidence dumped in MacArthur Park Lake was halted at the last minute on Monday morning, The California Post has learned.
Park rangers told the search’s organizers that they shut down the planned operation on Monday morning at the last minute after the intervention from LA City Councilwoman Eunisses Hernandez.
Her office did not immediately return requests for comment regarding the reasons for the last-minute shutdown.
The shutdown happened moments after The Post arrived on the scene and despite the search mission being planned for months.

Vigilante's Search For Bodies In Notorious LA Lake Halted By Officials: Reports
“If there’s a loved one who’s looking for their family members or someone who’s deceased, they can go to the police station and they can report that,” Losorelli told KTLA. “[Alle] should not be taking that into his own hands.”The city's Chief Park Ranger Joe Losorelli told KTLA his main concern was about possible damage to underwater piping, including a pump system that feeds the park's large fountain. He also took issue with Alle's vigilantism.

(My favorite Sarah Palin picture.)
Huh. It’s a cake recipe.
(The guy who played Dumbledore in the first Harry Potter movies sang “McArthur Park,” a fairly huge hit, in which he laments the rain ruining his cake, and that he can never make it again because he lost the recipe.)
Always thought that song sucked.
The funds were going to be covered by "vigilante" (aka local businessman John Alle) who was going to use a sonar submersible.
See my post above.
What is it with Democrats giving public statements and having a bunch of frowny-faced people standing around them? Is that to telegraph that this is serious, and you’d better not laugh at the stupidity?
I like the middle instrumental part.
Gangs own the pols in these big cities.
Demonrats have been evidence in there for decades?

Yea, sonar is almost guaranteed to damage the fragile steel infrastructure. /s
I don’t even know why I like the Movie Volcanon with Tommy Lee
jones and Anne Heche. I watch it a couple times a year
In the movie a number of city workers were killed when a volcanic seam opened under this lake. So just be careful, boys and girls. We wouldn’t want a repeat of that
I often drive by that park when I need to get to the 101 - with the windows up and doors locked.
God only knows what is at the bottom of the cesspool known as "MacArther Park Lake."
There are reports of dead bodies thrown into the lake - tied down to wheelchairs and bicycles so they didn't come up again.
One of the most beautiful parks in LA - taken over by gangs, drugs and homeless.
Criminal activity in the park A-OK's by the likes of loud mouth Eunissis Hernandez and Karen Bass.
“Looks like a coil of chain-link fence to me.”
“Yeah ... oh, look, there’s another one, and another and ...”
Nah, the caked melted in the rain.
