Jaguar Land Rover 'on brink of going back to petrol' after fury at 'woke' rebrand

Jaguar Land Rover could soon develop a part-petrol road car despite planning to go completely electric, according to reports. The British brand is reportedly drawing up plans for a vehicle powered partly by a combustion engine, which will be known as a “range-extended electric vehicle”.

This is likely to have a small petrol engine fitted to charge the main battery. But the component could be fitted to ease drivers' concerns about running out of power. According to experts, an additional petrol engine could extend the range of new Jaguar cars by around 400km, rising from 700km to 1,100km.

The iconic Jaguar and Land Rover logos are prominently displayed on a modern building, signifying luxury automotive excellence and British heritage.

Despite The Sunday Times reports, Jaguar seemed to suggest that nothing was changing, although they didn’t deny a petrol-powered car was in the works.

In a statement to Express.co.uk, a spokesperson for Jaguar Land Rover said: “Our plans to reinvent Jaguar as an electric-only luxury automotive brand are unchanged. Last month, prototype passenger rides received overwhelmingly positive reactions from global media, and we are looking forward to unveiling the first new electric Jaguar later this year. "

Jaguar unveiled its major brand overhaul at the end of 2024, ditching its focus on elegant and sporty designs to focus on electric models. As part of this, Jaguar revealed its dramatic new Type 00 model, which looked completely different from models previously revealed.

The rebrand was quickly blasted, with many considering the new approach to be “woke”. Last year, Rawdon Glover, managing director of Jaguar, seemed to suggest that Jaguar had made mistakes with the rebrand.

Rawdon told Autocar: “The past is vital after all, we're in our 90th year but perhaps we haven't explained well enough that Jaguar shouldn't want to repeat itself. It's not in our DNA. Look at the step from E-Type to XJS.

“One of my key learnings since we first showed the Concept 00 a year ago has been that we didn't take enough time to explain why Jaguar had to change. When you lay that out clearly, people tend to get it."

I have seen numerous parking garages that do in fact prohibit EV’s. Hmm now why would they do that?

This article will clue people in. Exposure to Tesla Battery Fumes Sidelines Sacramento, CA, Firefighters

I heard about this one in firefighter school a couple weeks ago. Four firefighters have had their career ended by the damage to their lungs. I was told they were 100 yards away from the incident.

Canada is dragging their feet on approving Gulfstream in order to limit competition to Bombardier. Trump is retaliating.

So someone decided, 'I doubt EVs will be popular in America, so let's go back to ICE. Since if we can't sell it there, we better close the brands down.'

Auto companies are seeing EVs are fine for some things, but not for traveling 100+ miles.

I’m not entirely sure Trump has all the correct information. The FAA certs and Transport Canada are basically one of the same. If a plane is certified here it will transfer anywhere else in the world. Canadian planes the same thing when TC certifies them. Our countries have certification reciprocity. Maybe something changed and I will gladly stand corrected. Or, most likely, the Tuesdays in Canada just want to stick it to Trump.

I have been on lots of certification programs. TC and the FAA were always apolitical filled with a bunch of boring engineers.

But regardless, we need African aviation ingenuity....

“Auto companies are seeing EVs are fine for some things, but not for traveling 100+ miles.”

I am sitting in my.condo in downtown Austin Texas having driven directly from f a r North Texas in my Model 3 98% hands free FSD at that. It has a 375 mile range and I routinely take it 300 miles before hitting either a supercharger or the L2 at the casino/hotel valet or Airbnb. This model 3 also makes the DFW to Houston run nearly monthly and New Orleans in the regular as well. Have taken it to Orlando and Miami never an issue Tesla has put V3 and now V4 supercharger every 50 miles or so down the interstates. Hell in November we took the Model Y to Terlinquia Texas far rural west Texas it’s 300+ miles range too and there is a supercharger in Alpine 80 miles from the end point we used camping mode the whole weekend and still had enough juice to hit alpine.

It’s a myth by people who have never owned or even driven an Tesla that there is some range issie. Nothing could be further from the truth.the car will not let you run out of charge it will route you too the next supercharger on your route or a L2 at the end points. Tesla will come get you should you do something stupid like override the tech screaming at you and cart you for free I might add to the nearest supercharger that you ignored the tech taking you too. Only idiots run a Tesla out it’s nearly idiot proof you really have to be a special kinda stupid.

I own a F250 diesel it is a pain to drive long-distance you have to actually drive it and use the pedals the whole time as it’s cruise control is the dumb kind, no lane keep,no autopilot and certainly no FSD. I watched Netflix the whole.way down to Austin nearly door to door except for some construction on 35 that had crossing lane markers and it asked for hands when the lines were all over the place due to them not having shoulder , K rails and paint all over from nearly nightly lane shifts. People were all over the lanes it is a mess for sure. The truck goes to Midland and only on the clients dime at that. unsupervised FSD is coming with v15 even now polarized polycarbonate IR blocking lenses let you do what you want and not get strikes. That’s a Pro tip btw.
