Minnesota Shows Why the Left Will Win America’s 2026 Civil War
American Thinker ^ | 26 Jan, 2026 | Vince Coyner

The saddest thing about this is that the Republicans will work with the left to ensure their victory.

The United States is facing an existential threat. My guess is this summer will be the most violent, damaging domestic summer since the Civil War. And I predict the left will win and come out victorious on the other side. They will, after winning this new civil war, seek to eliminate the last vestiges of republicans.

I use a small r because while some Republicans are true republicans, most are not. And when the left wins the war, those RINOs are going to “work with” Democrats to create the illusion that America is still a republic, but it won’t be. They will use every tool available to silence dissent, take control over virtually every sector of American life, and they will implement rules so that America becomes a one-party nation.

Now I say all of this with the great hope that I am wrong, but I don’t think I will be.

The cowardly Republicans are going to cave in every conceivable manner in order to try to forestall a civil war. At every level, they are going to give in to the left, they are going to “compromise” their principles, and they are going to betray their voters and our Founding Fathers.

And I mean that at every level in every branch. There is simply no universe where Republicans have the intestinal fortitude to do what’s right in the face of withering attacks from the left.

There is literally no better example of this than election integrity. Nothing animates GOP voters like election integrity. Not abortion. Not welfare fraud. Not guns. (A majority of Democrats support it as well!) Literally nothing gets rank-and-file Republicans more animated in 2026 than elections

I believe we can reform the filibuster back to its old way — that is, you would need a 2/3 vote to override, but in return, the people blocking the legislation would have to risk making utter fools of themselves by going down into the well of the Senate and trying to talk it to death. The entire American public will get to see what miserable, showboating wretches most Democrat Senators actually are under such circumstances, at least those Americans watching FOX, Newsmax, America’s Voice or listening to Sinclair radio affiliates.

As a bonus, repealing the 17th Amendment would put the Senate squarely into the hands of the states, meaning all those “backward, hillbilly” red states would truly have equal suffrage again with political abominations like California, Maryland and your Massachusetts. As De Tocqueville might have put it, our nation is indeed foundering on the shoals of (small d) democracy. The judiciary would then slowly also be more responsive to the concerns of the states, rather than the federal leviathan, IMO.

I agree. I believe the 17th Amendment has been destructive in ways that were never foreseen.

The Brownshirts know that they will not be killed or arrested and thrown into solitary without attorney or bail.

That is the only reason they are unafraid. The big talk about killing Ice and those on the right is talk. The SDS in the 60’s learned the hard way after bombings and killings.

It is time to bring back the stick because the carrot is too limp.

The only way Dems are going to prevail is if they lie and cheat their way to it and no doubt they will best effort try to. In November ‘24 they we’re electorally smashed because their gig was up. The democrat criminal fraud etc of USAID then and massive fraud now has the overwhelming majority of the US firmly on the Right side of history. The “mostly peaceful burnings” of Summer 2020 will not repeat itself because there is a new sheriff in town and he has the backing of the US majority.

The outcome of the midterm election will determine a civil war. If we lose the midterms, we are SOL. Payback will be a bitch.

There’s not going to be a Civil War.

Not with that attitude, there won't.

… But he shouldn't have hired Bondi and Patel in the first place. They weren't competent enough for their roles

How about Hegseth? Came into the job with zero applicable experience.

“How about Hegseth?”

Hegseth IS competent. Bondi and Patel are not.

“(Hegseth) Came into the job with zero applicable experience.”

Ditto for Trump. Trump.

I am waiting for Bondi to do a Taylor Green and denounce Trump

She is blackmailing Trump and America right now.

What idiocy it is to be simps for fakes like these in politics. Surroundingnoneself with triksting hires is not good in a time like this.

Of my five conservative friends I graduated with, all of us left teaching within two years. It’s not worth it

The future of our country is "not worth it." Okay.

The majority of white women voted for Trump in all three of his elections.

Not really.

Here are the approximate shares of women voters who supported Donald Trump in the three most recent U.S. presidential elections (2016, 2020, 2024), based on available exit polls and post-election survey data:

2016 Presidential Election
• Trump ≈ 41% of women’s vote (Hillary Clinton ≈ 54% of women) according to exit poll data summarized by CAWP.

2020 Presidential Election
• Trump ≈ 42% of women’s vote (Joe Biden ≈ 57% of women) per national exit poll data.

2024 Presidential Election
• Trump ≈ 45% of women’s vote nationwide (Kamala Harris ≈ 53%), based on exit poll compilations.

Well, how condescending. you go do a thankless crappy job for hardly any money then. The kids don’t care the parents don’t care the administration definitely doesn’t care. You can’t even get kids to do homework or enforce any discipline in the classroom. It’s not gonna make a difference and it’s not a labor of love, unless you’re a liberal and you just want to brainwash the kids.

We were all in a stem to teaching program, everybody was an engineer and went back to good jobs, because the dream of making a difference wasn’t there. It’s been destroyed by liberals and bad parenting

I did it for 16 years in Los Angeles. I know exactly how awful it is. I taught ESL and English in the inner city. But if we don’t do it, THE LIBERALS WILL! If they’re willing to put up with all that crap in order to brainwash our children, but we aren’t... well, I guess they’re tougher than we are.

Tough has nothing to do with it

There a big difference between working in an adversarial environment and getting support and encouragement.

Besides, with the inability to discipline or teach competently, it’s a waste of time. Common core, for example.

No, that's an excuse. I worked in it for 16 years. The liberals are just as miserable as we are, they just hang in there, while conservatives walk away. So they are winning.

Don’t believe that for a minute, someone who is in a situation where they are working against the principles of the environment is going to be in an adversarial situation. It’s the exact opposite if you agree with what you are teaching and with what the administration is saying.

We’ll just have to agree to disagree.

They only won an education because they put themselves in a position to be in charge of it. I honestly think anybody who thinks they can make a difference and stays in a miserable job is fooling themselves. We need to take over from the top, not the bottom.

I assure you, liberal teachers suffer all the difficulties in the classroom, the absent or abusive parents, the constant pressure to improve grades and test scores, the lack of support with difficult students, the tsunami of special ed students, the torrents of paperwork, the mandatory meetings and trainings that do nothing but harass, all of it.

The idea that having the principal agree with your biases makes it oh-so-much easier is an absolute COP OUT. You were there for 2-3 years, I was there for 16. Which of us do you think has a better grasp of the situation? The fact is, conservatives took the easy way out, and left this particular battleground to the liberals, and that is why they have made so many inroads.
