Let’s hope it stays that way!

We have hot water recirculation unit for hot water on demand. Anyway, don’t have to drip the faucets.
Now, if the power goes out. My husband has a plan for cutting off water and draining the water. We have a well.

Social media is at least fact-checked in real time. The Media in these weather-pocalypse situations are not to be trusted; they are the Second-oldest profession in the world.

In NW Louisiana south of Shreveport. Have been without power since 8:45 this morning. Electric company estimates restoration about 1:00pm tomorrow. Severe ice storm has pine and cedar trees self destructing all around our house. Temps are in the high 20s and falling. Rain has stopped for now but is expected to resume after midnight. Ice buildup on wires is around 1/2”. This is going to be a long night!

Oh no!
We're supposed to get somewhere between 0.25 to 0.50 of ice. The forecast keeps changing as expected.
Praying the power is restored tomorrow!!
To: JABit
I’m sorry to hear that! Nothing in Lake Lanier Estates / Gainesville, GA... not yet... but the prediction is anywhere from 1/4” to 1”.
If it’s 1”, we will never have electrical service ever again.

10:44 pm update. Moderate snow coming down. We had a few hours of sleep before the snow. It’s cold.
I think we won’t get as much snow as they were first predicting, but we are getting a lot. I’m guessing it will be around 8 inches all said and done.

Its almost midnight in Lilburn GA. That’s metro Atlanta. Only a few sprinkles of rain and no ice.

I just took a look outside. Nothing yet here by Philly.
I went to Home Depot today and bought a really good DeWalt leaf blower (battery-powered). I’ll use it to blow the snow off the balcony above my porch. I keep a shovel up there year-round but this should be easier as long as it’s cold enough that the snow isn’t the wet, heavy type.
One thing that really annoyed me today was when I went to Wawa to fill my metal gas can. Some of the pumps have those stupid “fume capture” nozzles. They won’t turn on when you try to fill the can. I had to find a pump with a standard nozzle instead. Luckily there was one.

Thanks for this thread. We’re grateful the storm hasn’t been quite as bad as predicted thus far.
