Hey Freepers in the path of stormagedden 2026....how ya doing?
Power outages? Impacts?
Here in north GA it's just a little chilly as we wait for the storm.
Upstate SC here. I started looking for propane on Wednesday. All sold out everywhere. Went to play the lottery this morning - yeah, we got propane. I need it to heat my greenhouse. Other than that, I have a generator, 2 cords firewood etc. Still worried though. Got hammered by Hurricane Helene - no power for 11 days but it was in the summer. Unlike New England, all these Southern houses were built with the water pipes on the outer perimeter.
Southern Pennsylvania, it’s 14 Fahrenheit. Snow is predicted at 3AM, and two hours later switching to sleet, continuing all day.
When you get into your car or truck in the morning, and you hear the springs creak, you know it’s cold. Some lakes around here will have ice fishing soon, haven’t been in years.
We also have a Pyr. A 3 year old female we got when she was 9 weeks old. She just loves the snow, and seems impervious of the cold.
HA!...Al Gore wrong again!
Oh yeah....my first car didn’t have heated seats, or a heater that worked worth a dime for that matter. Don’t miss that at all.
They are like huskies when it comes to cold and snow. It’s the hot GA summers they dislike!
A trip to the wafflehouse would be good!
Its just now started to sprinkle here in Lilburn GA but its rain not freezing rain as the temp is 39 degrees.
It’s only just started here in KY. Shelves were bare of groceries on Friday PM, and no propane refills available anywhere nearby. We’re well-stocked with food, literature, and video. A standby generator assures we’ll have power no matter how bad it gets. Compared to what we were used to in Upstate NY, this is a picnic.
Meh. North side of San Antonio, church canx re potential ice storm but nothing yet.
Florida Panhandle...70+ degrees today!
Used to live in Florida though...I do miss those temps.
Wow...16” of snow.
Glad you’re prepped and wishing you all a safe and warm time during this storm.
Well, don’t be too hard on yourself, it’s supposed to get below freezing tonight and tomorrow. Heck, this time last year in Panama City we had snow!
I remember that. Unreal.
>>I do miss those temps.<<
I’ve lived in FL for 5 years now. I lived in NE Ohio for 26 years then NW NJ for 28.
Was driving back from Jersey a month ago, it was like 55 degrees in SC and GA...crossed the river, got out at the first rest stop on 95 in FL, it was 71.
It’s like magic ;).
I think it’ll hit 80 tomorrow her in The Villages. I think I put in my cold dues though, but I do sympathize with people hit with Ice. I’ve lived though some catastrophic ice storms and it can be down right dangerous and nasty.
Lived in Jville for a bit. I was able to swim in the apartment pool until the end of October. I knew that was where I was supposed to be.
North Central Indiana. Our forecast started out at 2-5 inches, IIRC. Now we are in the 5-8” band. Low temp for the next 8 days between -2 and +2 degrees. Highs around 10-13 degrees. It started snowing here around 5 pm. Very fine powdery snow.
Haven’t checked recently but will when the dog needs out.
Keep your faucets dripping tonight. It’s gonna get cold.
