President Donald Trump declared that The New York Times must “pay a price” on Thursday after the Gray Lady and Siena University released a new poll suggesting that just 40% of registered voters approve of him.
In a write-up about the survey, the Times’ chief political analyst Nate Cohn observed that “The major demographic shifts of the last election have snapped back. In today’s poll, Mr. Trump’s approval rating by demographic group looks almost exactly as it did in Times/Siena polling in the run-up to his defeat in the 2020 presidential election. If anything, young and nonwhite voters are even likelier to disapprove of Mr. Trump than they were then, while he retains most of his support among older and white voters.”
“Voters have an unfavorable view of Mr. Trump’s performance on almost every issue tested in the poll, including his handling of immigration and the economy and his approach to Russia, Israel, and other foreign relations,” noted Cohn.
Trump did not take kindly to those results.
In his first Truth Social post about them, he declared that “The Times Siena Poll, which is always tremendously negative to me, especially just before the Election of 2024, where I won in a Landslide, will be added to my lawsuit against The Failing New York Times.”
“Our lawyers have demanded that they keep all Records, and how they ‘computed’ these fake results — Not just the fact that it was heavily skewed toward Democrats. They will be held fully responsible for all of their Radical Left lies and wrongdoing!” he added.
In second and third posts about the matter, the president escalated the matter even further, going so far as to suggest that publishing “Fake” polling ought to be a “criminal offense.”

Something has to be done about Fake Polls! They are truly OUT OF CONTROL. We have the Greatest Economy in the History of our Country, we have the Strongest Border in History, nobody has ever done a job like I have done, and they have me in the low 40s. The Democrats destroyed Healthcare, I’m trying to fix it, and they give me FAKE low numbers. Fake Polls on the Economy, on the Border, on just about everything, are ridiculous and dangerous. The REAL Polls have been GREAT, but they refuse to print them. This is no different than a writer who is corrupt, of which there are many. The New York Times, and so many others, print Polls that are knowingly false. They have become deranged, and sick. They suffer from a major case of TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME (TDS). Their 2024 Election coverage was so bad, and so wrong, and yet they never get called out for it — But I am calling them out with the lawsuit that I have filed which is making its way through the Courts. They have to pay a price for FAKE AND FRAUDULENT NEWS and, hopefully, in the not too distant future, they will!

Fake and Fraudulent Polling should be, virtually, a criminal offense. As an example, all of the Anti Trump Media that covered me during the 2020 Election showed Polls that were knowingly wrong. They knew what they were doing, trying to influence the Election, but I won in a Landslide, including winning the Popular Vote, all 7 of the 7 Swing States, the Electoral College was a route, and 2,750 Counties to 525. You can’t do much better than that, and yet if people examined The Failing New York Times, ABC Fake News, NBC Fake News, CBS Fake News, Low Ratings CNN, or the now defunct MSDNC, Polls were all fraudulent, and bore nothing even close to the final results. Something has to be done about Fraudulent Polling. Even the Polls of FoxNews and The Wall Street Journal have been, over the years, terrible! There are great Pollsters that called the Election right, but the Media does not want to use them in any way, shape, or form. Isn’t it sad what has happened to American Journalism, but I am going to do everything possible to keep this Polling SCAM from moving forward!
That does it; Trump will never be re-elected.
Young men in particular were willing to vote for Trump when he promised them jobs and relief from inflation. Then Trump started throwing around talk of foreign wars (plural) and surprise, surprise, young men don’t want to be drafted to fight overseas. Prices never did return to pre-Biden levels either.
Republicans were underwater in ‘06 due to the collapse of the Iraq project, not due to some fatal flaw in Bush’s temperament.
Setting Bush aside, I think we can agree that Ronald Reagan masterfully brushed aside criticism with finesse and humor. He set a good example for conservative leadership and received overwhelming public support for most of eight years.
The problem with constantly making every personal slight into a four-alarm fire is that it devalues the prestige of the office and exhausts the patience and attention of all but the most committed. If everything is outrageous, nothing is outrageous.
So, in sum, it’s a false choice to contrast docility with vituperation. It certainly doesn’t offend me for the President to be attacking, attacking, attacking, but I think it diminishes him.
“The problem with constantly making every personal slight into a four-alarm fire is that it devalues the prestige...”
You need to get off that horse. You must not know the history of previous leaders and presidents, such as Andrew Jackson, who killed people in duels, or Lincoln, who cut with barbs.
If you’re suggesting that either was non-stop rolling in the mud with their opponents, I’d say you’re inventing analogies without historic foundation.
How many elections have you won? Why do you think your political knowledge surpasses Trump’s?
You need to get a life.
“How many elections have you won?”
Dumbest critique yet.
That’s like saying, “You don’t like the two unforced errors by our shortstop? How many major league games have you played?’
If we are to slavishly support every decision by our leaders, then we might as well shut this site down because the only “correct” comments are abject approval.
“then we might as well shut this site down because the only “correct” comments are abject approval.”
Wow!! What a guy. You correct Trump on FR when everyone else, everyone else, is too timid to do so.
It is entirely correct to disagree with Trump on substance if the occasion arises. But just nitpicking bullshit like you did?
Having a conniption over bad polling numbers is the true definition of nitpicking bullshit, no?
Conniption???
You see, that is why communicating with you is the same as talking to a brick wall. Were you there when he wrote, or more likely, dictated, which is what we have seen him do.
Where I come from, conniption denotes somebody who has lost rationality, which would rule out Trump posting anything. You only gleaned what you know from a leftist headline and take it for gospel.
