The Buffalo Bills have fired head coach Sean McDermott after another season that failed to end in a Super Bowl appearance, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday.

Well, more than that. They have, arguably, the best player in the league and have not made a Super Bowl since the defeats to the Cowboys; they have been bounced in seven straight seasons from the playoffs.
Both he and Tomlin are seeing that “OK” isn’t good enough.
I grew up participating in sports and most coaches both the successful and the lousy were intense alpha males.
Pro sports and college sports eventually turned to more “player” friendly coaches.
I look around and the successful coaches are the ones who are the one’s who don’t coddle the players.
Not sure if McDermott was a coddler but if he was alpha, he didn’t project it.
I would say the four NFL coaches still in the run for SB are alpha intense and run a tight ship.
I would definitely say that Cignetti and Cristobal coaching tonight for the national championship are alpha intense.
And that Dolphins coach was the most anti alpha coach that I have seen in the NFL.
The Dolphins fired Brian Flores who was alpha and wanted no part of the softer than charmin Tua Tagavailova.
Well Flores opinion of Tua was finally validated when they benched him but it was too late for McDaniel.
Now the Fins are relying on Troy Aikman to provide the direction to turn around the franchise.
Good luck with that but he can’t do worse for the Fins than Tommy Boy has done for the Raiders.
No such luck. Beane got promoted.
Paul Brown was notoriously cheap and ran the Bengals org accordingly. I believe they still don’t have a practice facility just use an open area by the stadium.
That pretty much describes Marty Schottenheimer’s coaching career.
The Bills were robbed? Excuse me but there was a blatant hold while Josh Allen was in the end zone in overtime that was not called. That call would have resulted in the Broncos winning and Nix would not have broke his ankle.
The Bills got robbed, please
The rule might be bad, but the call was consistent, if you go back to the Calvin Johnson and Dez Bryant calls.
Until the process is completed, it’s a live ball. The knee touching with contact does not end the play in the case of a reception.
Selective memory - go back the Bronco’s punt in OT that put the Bills on the 5 yard line. In the first play, Allen is in the end zone and there is a blatant hold - THAT missed call cost the Broncos their QB for the rest of the season. That’s the most costly blown call in that game by far and away.
Mike Tomlin and Kyler Murray are available. The Bills will be lucky to ever end up with 9-8 record, but SportsCenter will always rave about them.
Several turnovers doomed them, not any bad call
The NFL already uses AI extensively in all aspects of the game.
But he may have been fired for not having Allen just take a knee with 17 seconds before the half...before his fumble led to a Broncos FG.
I think Black QBs are going to be second guessed from now on.
CJ Stroud infamously FAILED the NFL's pre-draft IQ test, but it was ignored because of his race. It is now considered "controversial" - although his low IQ has been on full display the past two games and in fact the past two seasons.

16 of 32 starting QBs in the NFL this year were Black.
Not one of them is in the Final Four.
Yes clearly it was a conspiracy. They wanted 2 Mike’s to face 2 Sean’s in the Conference finals.
Remember, it’s gambling. The whole point of gambling is to have a whole lot riding on not much. The roll of a die, the flip of a card, the bounce of a little metal ball, or the ref not thinking that’s a penalty. People who want certainty don’t gamble. People who gamble gotta live with the consequences.
That sounds idiotic. A playoff game for an NFL team probably generates a minimum of $10M+ in added revenue for the home team. And the players don’t earn any extra salary for those games … AND the player bonuses for playoff wins is paid out of an NFL bonus pool, not from individual playoff teams.
It’s almost as though only one team can win it all!!
;p
I know fans can be demanding, but there’s how many other good teams? The league wanted parity…
It's Vrabel.
There are 32 teams. There are not 32 men capable of leading an NFL team.
Owners are all good at making money. Not all of them are smart, in fact, a lot of them are not.
They see "Patriots go from 3-14 to 15-3 and one more game before the Super Bowl, they fired their coach! Maybe that's what I should do. Coach - you're fired".
That’s Paul “no we don’t replace the towels every season” Brown for you. Cheap to the point actually wasting money.
I believe the Babylon Bee insightfully reported this before it ever happened.
100% correct.
When the Bills got a three point lead with 13 seconds left and the Chiefs had the ball on their own 25, the only thing that Buffalo had to do was to hold all receivers one the line of scrimmage, legal or illegal.
Just grab and hold.
If the refs called a penalty, they move the ball 5 yards, not THIRTY YARDS.
I was screaming at the TV and any football fan knew that you could not let any receiver downfield, just grab them.
He should have been fired and forced to buy his own plane ticket back home.
Dumbest loss I've ever seen, and he was a defensive coach.
