This is the NFL’s season of coach carousel, but it’s yet another season of overrated QBs.

It’s tough to win a championship. No matter how talented the team you also have to overcome bad calls and just bad breaks. Nevertheless the Chiefs and the Patriots and even the Eagles show how to do it.

Wow...one of the talking heads said that most coaches who win the Super Bowl do so in their first 7 years. Obviously Landry was an exception.

When all is said and done, it’s almost impossible to overcome four turnovers. I don’t give the Broncos much chance against NE.

Landry started with the Cowboys before there even was a Super Bowl. And overcome Lombardi’s Packers.

“I don’t give the Broncos much chance against NE.”

That is an understatement considering Nix won’t be playing.

I am sure the Giants put an offer on the table that he couldn’t pass up.

I cannot imagine being a head football coach in the NFL to start with; being one in NYC seems like asking for an amateur proctologist. No thanks.

I grew up three miles from Rich Stadium(it will always be that name to me).

So, as William Jefferson Clinton once famously said: I feel your pain.

However, I moved to NH 40 years ago. I was still a Bills fans until they benched Doug Floutie in favor of Rob Johnson. After that I became a Pats fan. It was right around then that Bledsoe got injured and the kid from Michigan named Tom got the spot.

I still have three brothers who are in mourning today.
I was really hoping for a Bills/Pats AFC Championship game in Foxboro. That way I would be happy if either team won.
I don’t see any of the three remaining teams beating Seattle though.

When a winning coach gets fired, it's almost always for one of two reasons:

1. Personal/professional clashes with the team's owners and/or GM.

2. The owners of the team reaching a point where they say to themselves: "We would have been a championship team by now with a better coach."

The Bills seem like a perfect example of #2 here.

I would think working for Jerry Jones would be worse.

The ref’s have way too much influence on the outcome of games... So much so that it makes you wonder who their bookies are. The NFL needs to develop some sort of AI that can determine fouls, blow whistles and call first downs... The TV networks are already using graphics to determine first downs... And the refs have made incorrect calls, and those graphics clearly show that they were outright wrong.

There is too much riding on these massively bet on games to leave to human error and sometimes human maleficence.

The trick is to work longer than seven seasons, whether you win the SB or not. 😁 Or to not get fired by the end of season six! 🏈

A good many peaked over a period of a few years, with SB appearances clustered together (win or lose). Chuck Noll won two, lost in the playoffs, won two more, then (by Bradshaw’s description) had a talented group who were too old to get three in a row.

Bud Grant, Marv Levy, and Dan Reeves never won, but lost four. Probably still went into the Hall of Fame though.

Jim Plunkett, literally the only QB my late mother ever professed to know anything about (she had a blind father, and both of Plunkett’s parents were blind or partially blind), is still not in there, which is just absolutely ridiculous. Did the dip****s who didn’t vote for him win two SBs? No.

Not just the NFL’s, but HOFs in general are a joke, particularly the MLB’s just for keeping out Mickey Lolich. What a collection of maroons. On an old Detroit-area sports show he said (when asked) that he figures not having won the Cy Young (he missed it a couple of times) hurt his chances. What really did hurt his chances was a collection of maroons.

Keep an eye on Brian Daboll. His claim to fame was being the guy who was able to really elevate Josh Allen, and he needs a job right now.

I remember in 1982 when the Bungals played the 49ers in the Super Bowl, the Bungals owner Paul Brown actually said that he wasn’t a big fan of winning all those playoff games because of all the bonus money the players were earning every week when they advanced to the SB. True story. I can imagine many owners privately feel this way.

Tom Landry NEVER beat a Lombardi-coached team. Look it up if you don’t believe me. 0-5 against him.

Yeah, true or not, once a coach gets a reputation of having reached a ceiling as a playoff maker, but not a Big Game Winner, it's tough for the front office to figure out just ingredient they're missing.

Sometimes it is a head coach. Sometimes it's a quarterback. And sometimes, it's just timing. How many Super Bowls would Peyton Manning won if Tom Brady and the Patriots weren't playing at the same time?

In the Bills case, they thought that Patrick Mahomes was their kryptonite. And with the Chiefs out of the playoffs, it was thought to be just the opening the Bills needed to get to the Super Bowl.

I'm a Bills fan, so I just hope this isn't a big mistake.

Yeah, I would agree with that!

It could even been worse than that…he could go to the Jets. LOL

I believe you. And they both came from the NY Giants to their respective HC jobs.
