In the latest episode of the Deep State circus that’s turned our justice system into a bad joke, a 92-year-old federal judge appointed by none other than Bill Clinton back in the ’90s has been assigned to oversee the high-profile case against Venezuelan socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro in New York.
This is the same judge who has a track record of rulings that seem tailor-made to thwart President Trump’s agenda and protect left-wing interests.
U.S. District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein, who took senior status way back in 2011, but somehow keeps popping up in major cases.
He has issued several controversial rulings adverse to Donald Trump and his administration. These rulings have spanned Trump’s time as a private citizen, his first presidency, and his current second term.

Yes it was an indictment for political PR. They never expected it to be carried out.
Why was New York chosen?
No one should be a judge at age 92.
See my post 27
It really doesn’t matter at this point. Even if he somehow doesn’t get convicted in the US, by the time the trials are over, sending him back to Venezuela would be a worse fate for him than sitting in a US prison.
By then a new government will have been formed there, and they can try him for his numerous crimes against the Venezuela people. Or not, they can just drop him off on the street of Caracas and he’ll be found hanging from a lamp-post.
why was it assigned to New York in the first place? we all knew what the outcome would be
As soon as I heard it was going to SDNY I believed there was trouble. If Trump fails to get a conviction he will be accused of a crime. Makes it very important that Vance or Rubio win election in 2028.
Maybe they’ll do a plea bargain and exile him to Qatar or Russia.
I hope they have thought this through and have a plan.
SNAFU in the judiciary
it only breeds (even) more contempt for the law.
it needs a serious review and house-cleaning
Effin ridiculous.
He would not have been able to vote for Truman. My father was born about eight months before him, and also in New York City. The voting age was 21, which means that the first election he would have been able to vote in was the 1956 election. Having been born in December, this guy would not have been 21 in November 1954. I promise you that he voted for Adlai Stevenson, not Ike, despite the fact that Ike had ended the Korean war, and that we were in the midst of the greatest period of prosperity in our history up to that time.
I can only hope that if he rules against the Maduro indictment on some kind of constitutional grounds, then he will be overruled by the appeals court. Maduro was not recognized as the head of Venezuela by any western nation, only by China, Russia, North Korea, Cuba, and Iran, because he had so blatantly stolen an election that went against him by a very large margin. He was illegally occupying the Venezuelan presidential palace, while engaging in his chosen profession of narco terrorist.
Why wasn’t he sent directly to gitmo and charged in military court?
Is the one who assigns the judges to cases a RAT appointee?
Sounds like tater head Trump.
He was indicted in March 2020.
Trump was President then.
Before I was born.
7th and 8th grades for me.
Who is running the justice department and why are we allowing 92 yros to remain on the bench..
The bigger underlying point here is that it even matters who the judge is. Justice is supposed to be blind, no? Obviously it isn’t, and that has huge implications for each and every one of us. If the law schools and Bar associations of our nation had integrity and were committed to justice they would make removing politics from the justice system a top priority. They haven’t, and won’t.
I just read where he cut off Maduro mid-sentence as the thug was claiming he was kidnapped, so there’s that...
Randomly assigned, but some more than others.
Obvious conflict. A new judge should be appointed.
