In the latest episode of the Deep State circus that’s turned our justice system into a bad joke, a 92-year-old federal judge appointed by none other than Bill Clinton back in the ’90s has been assigned to oversee the high-profile case against Venezuelan socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro in New York.
This is the same judge who has a track record of rulings that seem tailor-made to thwart President Trump’s agenda and protect left-wing interests.
U.S. District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein, who took senior status way back in 2011, but somehow keeps popping up in major cases.
He has issued several controversial rulings adverse to Donald Trump and his administration. These rulings have spanned Trump’s time as a private citizen, his first presidency, and his current second term.

This is how the bureaucracy fights Trump. Every step ahead requires exhausting time and effort, eventually facing collapse in regards to the merits or facts, but the damage is done. The bureaucrats have tens of thousands of foot soldiers. Trump has very limited resources. Everything the Beltway bureaucrats do is designed to drain him.
In much the same way as Biden is a “devout Catholic”.

I think we read recently that the judge him/herself has to be the one to recuse. But we know the chances of that are zero.
Was the voting age 18 in 1948, or 21 years? If 21, he would have had to have been born in 1927; if 18 years, he could have been born in 1930 and voted for Truman (for President, that is.).
Its my understanding they issued the indictment. There has to be at least one appearance there before they can get a change of venue.

who assignes judges? State AG?

Maduro has an indictment against him and wife. It won’t be easy to dismiss. There will be lots of appeals...Apprehension legality should be decided by agreement between nations. Since Venezuela basked in its generally recognized “illegitimate” status ( so many nations governments thought so)....there could be no formal agreement...so Venezuela has let itself open to all sorts of incursion....
Not to mention it has a miserable air force and armed force setup...

Question remains: Why did the indictment originate there? It could have been brought in a Federal District in Miami, or Texas. Certainly Venezuelan drugs didn't only go to New York.

There’s talk Norm Eisen is going to show up with Maduro at the arraignment today. What if that commie judge orders Maduro released? That’s going to be interesting.
She didn't. This was done long before Trump took office.
