Oh joy. IF in fact they build one. We should track it to extremely deep water and use one of our attack subs to torpedo it.... and never say a word.

Just let it be lost at sea.

OK, a Nork nuclear powered sub . . .

It patrols around submerged, and then the commander says —
GO

So they ‘ignite’ their nuke to propell them, like a rocket.

Wheeee

It’s going to hard to find volunteers for the crew.

Me too, but $6.98 was a princely sum for a little kid back in the 50's--early 60's!

It’s going to hard to find volunteers for the crew.

They are in North Korea.
Options:
1. Get sent to the front line in Ukraine/Russia
2. Get atomized by a large explosive right on you. Family gets relocated to labor camps.

If you are lucky, you get to be the cook. Find out how to poison the todies, and maybe you can cut communications, and pilot the sub to some place reasonable and turn it in.

That would have been a full day's pay at minimum wage back then, or close enough for government work, meaning just over $100 today.

One of the complexities and weight addition to US subs is the primary reactor shielding. It protected the crew from radiation… we got monitored closely for our radiation exposure and actually got less than ambient radiation we we would have gotten in everyday life. We were told that Russian subs save money and weight by going cheap on the shielding, and the crew consequently git significant radiation exposure; to the point Russian crew members were not allowed to have children. I assume Korean subs will be similar.

“I assume Korean subs will be similar.”

assuming these fools are really building one, they’ll be worse, much worse, in terms of blasting crew members with deadly radiation ...
