This year’s flu season is proving to be worse than normal, with hospitalizations up significantly compared to last year, and the CDC reporting 4.6 million cases of the flu so far.
But with peak flu season still going on until at least February, signs of the unusual “super flu” variant behind the rising sickness don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
The leading culprit? The latest version of the flu, subclade K, is a variant of the H3N2 influenza A virus that dominates flu seasons. This strain was responsible for over half of US flu cases as of mid-November.

I am an internist, and what I was mainly speaking of was the main risk factor for dying from the flu is obesity. They are at higher risk of ARDS.

Vomiting or diarrhea”
Not normal flu symptoms.

Already changed holiday plans because of this.
To get a booster, I would need a first shot.

I just git over a two and a half week respiratory bug.
Sore throat
Sore ears (although not bad)
On and off hoarseness
Dry cough (until the end where it became productive)
Occasional sneezing fits
On and off runny nose
No obvious fever.

At my doc appointment this morning I was offered both a flu and pneumonia vax
I said no thanx
( like I do every doc visit )
I’m pretty confident I’m not gonna die cuz of no vax.
And I’m not susceptible to fake news flu fear porn either.
It’s not the flu’s super theat or not as super that matters
It’s my immune systems strength that matters
So increase hospitalizations to make the flu seem worse than it is and stoke fear in the public so they run out and get the flu vax.
My understanding is that it’s going around in the schools here in NH and in some schools almost 1/4 of the student body is out.
By the time February is here, the flu should be a nonstarter as everyone will be immune because they had it already..

Indeed, My wife had to go to the Emergency Room and she brought the flu home.
So much for getting my annual flu shot.

I recently heard Dr. Ben Carson say that people claim a “gland problem” for their obesity, which he agreed with, then added, “a SALIVARY gland problem. Haha!
