‘Super flu’ sees spike in US hospitalizations — here are the symptoms to look out for
New York Post ^ | Dec. 23, 2025 | Rachel Sacks

This year’s flu season is proving to be worse than normal, with hospitalizations up significantly compared to last year, and the CDC reporting 4.6 million cases of the flu so far.

But with peak flu season still going on until at least February, signs of the unusual “super flu” variant behind the rising sickness don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

The leading culprit? The latest version of the flu, subclade K, is a variant of the H3N2 influenza A virus that dominates flu seasons. This strain was responsible for over half of US flu cases as of mid-November.

The symptoms appear identical to standard flu symptoms.

Probably is the standard flu. Just with so many compromised immune systems from the jab, it’s worse for them and spreads more easily.

I had it last week. Super duper fever that lasted a couple of days. Super super duper coughing that lasted four days. I took super super duper duper vitamins and got bed rest. The super super duper dooooper chicken soup really came through when I was ready to eat again.

Symptoms listed:

These can include:

High fever
Fatigue
Severe body aches
Sore throat
Chills
Runny or congested nose
Vomiting or diarrhea

While seemingly similar to flus of previous years, experts note a disturbing difference.

“Symptoms that are very intense, they come on really, really rapidly,” Dr. Kravitz added. “It’s very contagious, so it is spreading quickly through communities.”

You are a truly blessed individual to have recovered when you did because getting the mirepoix through the IV can be very difficult.

Just get your safe and effective Spike Protean booster shot and you’ll be fine.

From online ai...

Estimated Effectiveness: Early estimates suggest that the flu vaccine may be 30% to 40% effective in adults and 70% to 75% effective in children at preventing severe illness that requires medical attention.

I've had excellent success with flu vaccines, and I'll continue to get them. The Fluzone high dose that we septuagenarians get works just fine.

Even if I do get this flu (subclade K), I'm betting that the H3N1 antigens in the vaccine will assist my immune system into attenuating the severity and duration of the disease, although I'd be surprised that it got bad enough to notice.

To each his/her own.

“Don’t be obese and you almost always will be ok. I know. It’s what I do for a living.”

Congrats, that’s a very important job. I keep seeing people at stores everywhere who are like gigantic partially full beach balls, using those handicap carts with fat overflowing in all directions. My wife insists they are all victims of some disease and can’t do anything about it.

I don’t remember those people from when I was young. Some people were ‘fat’ but not Jabba the Hut fat.
