The last day for national letter delivery in Denmark is fast approaching as state-run postal service PostNord switches strategy to concentrate on parcel delivery following two decades of sharply decline in letter volumes.

The postal operator announced earlier this year that it will deliver its final letter on Dec. 31 after 400 years, saying physical mail is no longer economical because the country has mostly shifted to digital correspondence and that the massive growth in online shopping requires fast, reliable parcel service.

I say keep Saturday but only deliver every other day. Some people are Monday, Wednesday and Friday and others are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Can cut the number of carriers by 30%.

ABSOLUTELY TRUE!

We could also go to three days a week delivery in two shifts during six days and not miss a beat.

USPS is a very inefficient way to transport trash isn’t it?

That would get rid of the deluge of junk mail, begathons and waste of perfectly good trees.

...and nobody under 65 uses checks anymore.

As a "well seasoned citizen", I haven't written a check in >10 years.

I rarely check my mailbox (perhaps 2x/month as most is junk mail) unless I'm expecting a package.

Many of us depend on Sat delivery and post offices being open cause that is the only time we are at home. Some of us work for a living.

Like the article says, I get a lot of packages from USPS and I go to the post office to get them on Sat or get them delivered then.

I still get checks and important mail by USPS.

I got you beat. My post office ran out of stamps and Money orders for over six months last year. You could still mail packages and process visas.
