Rep. Crockett says: 'Law enforcement isn’t to prevent crime'
American Thinker ^ | 9 Dec, 2025 | Eric Utter

The ever-ditzy Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) was a guest on the "Grounded" podcast, when she was asked by host Jon Tester about the presence of military personnel in cities like Washington, D.C., and Chicago, Illinois.

Though the podcast aired this past September, a couple of her comments have recently re-surfaced and gone viral.

When Tester asked the congresswoman her thoughts on the military presence in those cities, Crockett replied, “I think it’s terrible.”

That opinion can legitimately be debated by people of good faith.

However, she went on to say: "I want to be clear that, like, law enforcement isn't to prevent crime.”

Huh?!

She added, “Law enforcement solves crime. O.K.? That is what they are supposed to do. They are supposed to solve crimes, not necessarily, um, prevent them from happening per se."

O.K., Jazzy, now take your meds. Again, we can debate the merits of military personnel in American cities, but not that statement.

Those in “law enforcement” are explicitly tasked with enforcing the law. A significant part of that mandate is to try to prevent people from, like, breaking the law, brainiac. They are not supposed to be indifferent to, say, murders, rapes, and terrorist attacks causing mass casualties. The goal is to prevent these crimes, not just investigate or solve them after they have occurred.

“Law enforcement solves crime. O.K.? That is what they are supposed to do. They are supposed to solve crimes, not necessarily, um, prevent them from happening per se."

OK. I know she's an idiot.

But is she wrong? In practical terms:

Does "law enforcement" have any liability for failing to prevent crimes? Aside from certain politicians, does "law enforcement" have any obligation to protect anybody? What penalties, if any, does "law enforcement" face if it fails to intervene in an ongoing crime?

What does the Supreme Court say about this?

With individual liberty comes individual responsibility.

And therein lies the problem. Many leftist States enact laws which severely inhibit We the People from defending ourselves, from acting on our responsibilities. Any "law" which infringes on our fundamental God-given human right to keep and bear arms and to use those arms in defense of self or others, is necessarily increasing crime.

The Supreme Court ruled your municipality has no obligation to you, whatsoever.

Law enforcement presence should deter crime, but it doesn’t when these progressive a-holes take away it’s teeth to enforce.

She’s correct. The job of law enforcement is to enslave uppity privileged white who think their opinions count for anything.

I wouldn’t discount, dismiss or underestimate her - (mocking OK, she invites it and she’s said some pretty nasty things about White People):

“There has been no oppression for the white man in this country,”

“You tell me which white men were dragged out of their homes… That didn’t happen. That is oppression”.

Crockett has criticized diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) opponents as “mediocre white boys.”

She argued that she had to work “10 times as harder” than her white male counterparts to earn her seat in Congress.

“I don’t know who feels safe in this country, except for the white supremacists. I, specifically, as a black woman, definitely don’t feel safe”.

Remember the Cruz-Beto race in 2018, gun grabber Beto was roundly - and rightfully - mocked by a lot of us - but he almost won the race against Cruz. Cruz (thankfully) won: 50.9% to 48.3%.

Actually she is correct. Policing in America is supposed to be a reactive or response to a crime. Any prevention is incidental to presence. With individual liberty comes individual responsibility. The only way to prevent crime in a structural processes way is to interfere with individual liberties.

You're right. Law enforcement likes to talk about crime prevention, but in reality, about all they can do is respond to crimes already committed. Crime is only prevented when people restrain from crime because they're afraid they'll be caught and punished. Nowadays, they don't care if they're caught because they know the left-wing courts won't punish them.

Huhhhh? Not to prevent crime?

That’s like hiring a body guard ... then telling him he doesn’t need to protect you. But you still pay him and give him benefits.

I would add that a loaded 38 often prevents crime, punishes crime, and often prevents recividivism.

I believe there has been a court ruling that says police are not legally required to maintain public safety, ie not liable if and when a crime occurs.

Its hard to deter crime when the demographic that commits 70% of all violent crimes and 49% of all homocides has been raised to believe they don’t have to follow the laws written by white people.
