'Hypocrite' Mark Zuckerberg sparks backlash as his enormous new $300m 387-foot mega yacht goes viral
UK Daily Mail ^ | 12/09/2025 | Chris Melore

Mark Zuckerberg has found himself at the center of an embarrassing climate change flip-flop, thanks to his $300 million mega yacht.

The 41-year-old Meta boss, worth roughly $230 billion, has reportedly been burning hundreds of thousands of gallons of diesel fuel since launching his personal, 387-foot vessel last year.

The yacht, dubbed Launchpad, runs on four diesel engines that use about 291 gallons of fuel every hour, which allegedly emits 40 tons of CO₂ over that same period of time.

Zuckerberg, an outspoken advocate for climate change policies such as the Paris Agreement and scaling carbon dioxide removal technologies to limit global warming, has been roasted on social media over the yacht's massive carbon footprint.

'Another reminder that Net Zero is only for the peasants,' one person wrote on X next to a video of the massive luxury vessel sailing near Florida.

'Meanwhile ordinary people drive electric cars and recycle, because the planet matters. But for him, apparently, the planet doesn't matter,' another social media user added.

Others called the multi-million-dollar yacht the ultimate 'symbol of hypocrisy,' as Zuckerberg has spent more than $100 million funding climate advocacy and related initiatives through his philanthropic organization.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Meta, which owns Facebook, and Zuckerberg for comment.

Some critics of Zuckerberg's lavish mode of transportation noted that Launchpad was just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to climate hypocrisy.

The mega yacht has been accompanied on its journeys by a 220-foot, $30 million support ship called Wingman, which can carry smaller boats, a miniature submarine for exploration and even a helicopter.

'Rich people when they say "we’re all in this together" then fire up four diesel engines,' an X user commented.

Not a Zuck fan but 300 gal of diesel might produce 3 tons of CO2. At least he’s feeding my forest.

“That’s crazy. How much maintenance-wise and crew-wise does it cost to run that thing?”

He’s contributing to the economy.

A boat, any boat regardless of size or shape is nothing but a hole in the water that you keep dumping money into. I’m sure Suckerberg is quite aware of his filthy “carbon footprint” but he doesn’t care. He’s a liar, a hypocrite and the worst of the worst. All while scolding everyday Americans that their lawnmowers, cows, gas grills and gas powered vehicles are THE SINGLE REASON why our planet is sick

Nah. He’s very sick, as are most “climate change” Nazis

Zuckerfag has the money; what he chooses to do with his money is his business. He's got a massive "yacht"? Awesome! I hope he has fun with it.

His "global warming" BS does come off as massively hypocritical, though. But which is worse: the "carbon footprint" of his yacht, or his data centers?

The traditional alien looking phenotype leases out the vessel for $$$$$$$$ to those who can afford that $$$$$$$$ when he is not using it.

One book series, Black Tide Rising, by John Ringo, about zombie apocalypse, where Zuck loaded his yacht with supermodels and a suss security team. The security folks tortured Zuck to death, raped all the girls and then tried to take all the treasure and cash aboard and leave on the smaller service boats.

They turned before they could leave, along with most of the girls and crew. Only a few girls survived, and only the ships chef and food servers survived from the crew.

How do you get 40 tons of CO2 out of 291 gallons of fuel?

I mean, the guy has made so much money from FB alone. What’re you gonna do, buy somebody a FB page for Christmas, wedding or their birthday? Seems almost like a rip-off artist to me. Yeah, it’s a beautiful ship but I think it’s symbolic of the billions of people on FB whose priorities are somewhat out of order. However, I suppose it’s a good thing that he’s based in the U.S.

On one of these huge yachts I recall it was something like 60+ people to run it, cooks, stewards, etc. And room for about 30 guests. It was some crazy ratio like that.

His yacht requires a 220-foot support boat?! Pretty soon he’ll have a mini task force.

I’d rather have a new bass boat.

You could put it in the bass pond, on the top deck.

I agree. I would go for replicating Bob Hoover, with the F86 and P51, although I would probably replace the Aero Commander with a Twin Commander for the turbine engines. There would definitely be a Staggerwing in my multiple hangers, alongside a Stearman, Cessna Commander 195, Pitts S1 and S2, Extra, J3, Champ, Luscombe, Bonanza, every RV, from the 3 to the 15 and on and on. I like the idea of walking out my back door at my own airstrip and having to decide which plane to fly, low and slow, serious cross country, aerobatics or nostalgia.
