'Hypocrite' Mark Zuckerberg sparks backlash as his enormous new $300m 387-foot mega yacht goes viral

Mark Zuckerberg has found himself at the center of an embarrassing climate change flip-flop, thanks to his $300 million mega yacht.

The 41-year-old Meta boss, worth roughly $230 billion, has reportedly been burning hundreds of thousands of gallons of diesel fuel since launching his personal, 387-foot vessel last year.

The yacht, dubbed Launchpad, runs on four diesel engines that use about 291 gallons of fuel every hour, which allegedly emits 40 tons of CO₂ over that same period of time.

Zuckerberg, an outspoken advocate for climate change policies such as the Paris Agreement and scaling carbon dioxide removal technologies to limit global warming, has been roasted on social media over the yacht's massive carbon footprint.

'Another reminder that Net Zero is only for the peasants,' one person wrote on X next to a video of the massive luxury vessel sailing near Florida.

'Meanwhile ordinary people drive electric cars and recycle, because the planet matters. But for him, apparently, the planet doesn't matter,' another social media user added.

Others called the multi-million-dollar yacht the ultimate 'symbol of hypocrisy,' as Zuckerberg has spent more than $100 million funding climate advocacy and related initiatives through his philanthropic organization.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Meta, which owns Facebook, and Zuckerberg for comment.

Some critics of Zuckerberg's lavish mode of transportation noted that Launchpad was just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to climate hypocrisy.

The mega yacht has been accompanied on its journeys by a 220-foot, $30 million support ship called Wingman, which can carry smaller boats, a miniature submarine for exploration and even a helicopter.

'Rich people when they say "we’re all in this together" then fire up four diesel engines,' an X user commented.

291 gallons of fuel do not produce 40 tons of CO2.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Producing forty tons of CO2 from one ton of fuel is quite the magic trick.

Is there anything Climate Change can't do?

Of course, he’s a hypocrite.

Cynic that I am, I wonder why now? How long has his hypocrisy been on display with silence from the liberal press?

I favor a focus on the “human environment.” It’s made better when you have affordable heat in winter and air conditioning in winter. (I never bought into CO2 is evil.). I think Gates is starting to focus a little on humanity over the abstraction of “the environment.”

Maybe Zuck is moving a little to the right and getting blasted for it.

I wonder how big a ship has to be before nuclear becomes an option. In the meantime, CO2 is plant food.

How much maintenance-wise and crew-wise does it cost to run that thing?

Doesn't matter. It is a project that has excited him and now that he has a new toy, he'll play with it until his problems in life start bothering him too much at which point he'll look for some new distraction from the reality of his existence.

“Buy a small $500,000 condo on the Upper West Side of Manhattan”.

Boy, I don’t think there is such a fish, besides you are buying in Southern New Hampshire to avoid income and sales tax but buying in Manhattan where the taxes say hello to the sky?

No no no no.

Hey you don’t have to 230 billion if you can’t spend it on what you want.

Burning 1 gallon of diesel produces approximately 22.4 pounds of carbon dioxide. 291 gallons of diesel would then produce about 3.25 tons of carbon dioxide.

Maybe that's why the article included the weasel word when it stated, "... about 291 gallons of fuel every hour, which allegedly emits 40 tons of CO₂"

“He can live on there during the zombie apocalypse.” Until he needs to buy another 10,000 gallons of diesel. BTW 4 engines at 291 gallons per hour is about 1200 gallons per hour, at 8 pounds per gallon that is about 10,000 pounds or 5 tons of CO2 per hour, not 40 tons. It would take 8 hours for Zuck to emit 40 tons of CO2, so he is very environmentally friendly.

The yacht building people are happy, and money spent on expensive toys is money not being spent trying to mess with the levers of society.

I would be afraid of the taxes they might hit me with if I was rich. As a poor man myself, I still have no desire since birth to go to NYC.

Zuck conspired with the Biden administration to silence us. He is Deep State slime.

He also managed to sell something to a whole lot of people, something they didn’t even know they wanted. You don’t make a butt load of money censoring people you make something that people will buy.

I agree he’s not perfect and perhaps he should be held accountable for some things but he’s too well connected fir that to happen.

Burning 291 gallons of diesel produces 6508 llb of CO2, according to:

That’s about 3.25 tons.

They stopped pushing "Global Warning" for their new A.I. god like system that will require Gigi-Watts of power.
They will not have to convince people to comply with their "Globalist Agenda",
We will not have any choice, but to comply, because A.I. will make it difficult not to.
