A Chicago mother of two has spoken out after shocking video of her family being violently attacked by a group of children outside a school shocked the nation.
Corshawnda Hatter, 33, says she has been left traumatized by the ordeal, in which she and her son, nine, were also followed and threatened as she tried to protect him from bullies.
'I can still hear the cries of my kids saying: "Mommy, help me. I'm hurt, I'm scared",' Hatter wrote in a post to social media after the incident near Orville T Bright Elementary School.
'I feel like I failed my kids but also didn't wanna put my hands on a minor,' she added.
After mocking her appearance the children backed Hatter into a fence and assaulted her with punches and slaps.
They then dragged the mother to the ground and continued with the beatings, which initially left her in a critical condition.
As Hatter was stomped on, the kids also violently pulled down her son and started to hit him too.
Hatter, who suffers from sickle cell anemia, a condition said that can cause chronic pain and fatigue, said she was 'so drained and emotional' after watching her son get slammed to the ground.
Hatter claimed one of the attackers was a 12-year-old boy who also targeted her daughter, six, and pulled her hair.
The attack happened Monday at around 3pm in the 10600 block of South Bensley Avenue.
The family are being relocated to a different home to protect them after the assault, ABC7 reported.

I’m watching news clips on youtube on this right now. Seem these kids were well known as bullies and out of control in the hood. Others are demanding they be expelled from school and arrested. They are asking the same questions we have asked “where are their parents?”
And......? Just a thang in a demorat run city.

There are a lot of conditions to unpack there.
. . . “inside her own community” . . . I guess it would have been ok if it had happened elsewhere in Chicago.

Fortunately, lawful gun ownership is tightly restricted in Chicago. Somebody could have been hurt.
Like there was a slew of Republicans to choose from. Doesn’t matter her voting choice does not mean she and her children deserve to be assaulted.
