“We’re gonna be issuing dividends later on, somewhere prior to — the middle of next year, a little bit later than that,” he said, noting it would include “Thousands of dollars, for individuals of moderate income.”

[Scott] Bessent also floated a rough income limit of $100,000 that would disqualify higher income families from receiving the dividend.

Smart move.

The Federal Government that has been running a huge receipts to outlays deficit since the 1980’s, except for a few years prior to the dotcom bubble, while enriching the donors that elect the morons that can’t provide a balanced budget.

Both parties growing government beyond its means, only benefiting their lobbyists buddies, while doing everything to maintain the 50 or 60 year status quo of we’re going to screw you over for foreigners and anti American domestic ideologues.

It looks like the 47th President will be playing hardball against the spastic democrats & conservative ideologues heading into the midterm elections.

So you accept my deal?

Because I think I’ve been pretty clear I OPPOSE the income tax.

I just know that the reality is that there is NO WAY the numbers can ever reasonably add up without making the deficit even larger.... but, I don’t personally care (I do care for my kids/grandkids) but by all means, do it.

But as for a government dependent like you? Explaining FICA and Medicare taxes to me? Save your breath and save yourself from looking foolish. I know exactly what I’ve paid in FICA over my lifetime and I’ve also done the math: I’ll be getting screwed. Even ignoring the employer match? I figured years ago, I’d probably need to live to nearly 200 in order for my government social security deductions to pay out what I’d be able to make if I had been allowed to keep the money.

But of course... the government needs my money. To pay YOU.

Thank you for demostrating:

1) that you can’t read the bloody thread.

2) that “TDS” has become a stupid and meaningless term.

But Trump is trying to help his party to defend their seats in Congress in 2026.

When the democRATs do it, we sneer at it as a corrupt vote-buying scheme.

Let's at least be consistent and honest.

If you ever did you’d find out that the federal government was several orders of magnitude smaller, less powerful, and less expensive than it is today. We should return to that state of affairs.

If I thought I needed it, I’d pay for it out of my own pocket.

Conversely, I’d tell you to seek it - but then, you’d expect daddy government to pay for it and until you are nicer to me? Daddy government would actually pay for it with MY money so I won’t say that.

Is this 100k per individual and thus 200k for a married couple? Are my IRA withdrawals considered income for this? Is my social security considered income for this? Is my retirement from work consider income for this? Is the obama care subsidies considered income? Are welfare benefits considered income?

Details are lacking.

We are collecting appx $30 bn/mo in tariff revenue.

That annualizes to $360 bn/yr.

We have about 150 million taxpayers in the US. As a WAG, let’s say 100 million qualify for the tariff rebate.

That’s $200 bn/yr @ $2000 per taxpayer.

I have no problem with that level of tariff rebate. It will quiet the critics of Trump’s tariff program.

Just applying it to debt reduction is virtually meaningless. $360 bn is less than 1% of the debt ($38 trillion).

Yeah. I agree. How did that Covid check work out? Inflation through the roof. Pay down the debt.
Jeez.

It doesn't take a rocket economist to figure out that this check is going to fuel inflation. This is just
a midterm vote buying stunt.

Pray tell where will the money come from to pay out this boon dongle?
We would have to borrow around $400 to $500 Billion to pay this out and increase the Debt. If there are any such surpluses then pay down the National Debt and help reduce Inflation.

Not in favor of this. Why is this means tested? Do we all not live in America?

This points to unequal application of law.

And, no, I don’t neef the money. I just find crap like this obnoxious.
