Melissa Gilbert has a new perspective about her “Little House on the Prairie” experience.
While clapping back at Megyn Kelly’s recent comments about late child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, the actress, now 61, reflected on the 8-year age difference between herself and Dean Butler, who played her on-screen love interest in the NBC series.
“So, I debated posting this but, I feel compelled to share. After seeing many women’s posts with the hashtags #iwasfifteen #imfifteen #iwasachild, I decided to google search myself at that age and see what came up,” Gilbert wrote on Instagram on Saturday, alongside photos of her younger self.
“And this is some of what I found…and now, at this age, at this time, I am actually nauseated,” the actress added. “The girl on vacation in Hawaii with her family, is the same girl who was expected to ‘fall in love with’ and kiss a man on film who was several years older than she was.”

A man takes time to be established to be able to afford a family..
By the time a man is established afford a family...
If his wife was the same age
She’d be almost too old to start having children...
That’s just biology
It’s changing as people are having less children..
So one or two kids yes.. yes you can be close the same age
6 to 12 kids... You’re going to need an age difference between the man and the woman
My father was one of 15 ... My grandmother had 20 pregnancies gave birth the 21 children... Lost 6 of that 21 for 15 kids total..

I have been researching my own family and my father’s grandfather was 26 when he married my father’s grandmother who was 14. Absolutely legal at the time too.

Missy is such a drama queen... literally. She was playing a role... based on real people. The real Almanzo Wilder was 10 years older than the real Laura Ingalls. Similarly, the real Captain Von Trapp was 25 years older than the real Maria Von Trapp so you don’t cast Gloria Swanson as the female lead in the Sound of Music.
I married at 16. My husband was 27.

So Bill goes to his 50th high school reunion to show of his beautiful 24 year old blonde wife. All of his high school buddies are green with envy. Finally they pull him aside and ask, Bill how did you get that beautiful young girl to marry you? Bill says, well I lied about my age. Oh his buddies say did you tell her you were 45? Nooooo Bill says, I told her I was 93!
Helen Viola Jackson was the last surviving widow of a Union soldier and the last surviving widow of a Civil War veteran overall; she passed away on December 16, 2020, at the age of 101.
In 1936, during the hardships of the Great Depression in the Ozarks, 17-year-old Helen married 93-year-old James Bolin, a Union veteran of the 14th Missouri Cavalry.
Jackson had been helping Bolin with chores when he suggested marriage as a way for her to inherit his Civil War pension of $73.13 a month, a considerable sum at the time. The marriage was kept secret, with Helen continuing to live on her parents’ farm and never revealing it to her family.
When Bolin passed away in 1939, his daughters from a previous marriage threatened to disgrace her if she applied for the pension, so she chose silence instead. Out of respect for Bolin’s memory and to avoid scandal, Helen never sought the money, never remarried, and later explained that she valued protecting his honor above her own financial security.

Couldn't Melissa find a less provocative photo of herself when she was a "child"? This negates her complaint.
