Overall a Horrible Election Day. What Happened?

We apparently are not on a roll with some kind of conservative momentum. Leftist Democrats of the worst kind made inroads into political power yesterday.

— NYC elects a radical Muslim. — Virginia threw out all reason and elected radical leftists to the Governorship and Attorney General, who had made violent threats. — Democrats flipped two red seats in MS breaking the Republican supermajority. — in my neck of the woods, Texas senate district 9 is going to a run-off after a DEM bested two Republicans for a plurality of votes.

This was surprising as the polling place I revisited was packed to the gills in an off-off-year election in a conservative area. Overall, there were no spectacular Republican victories to make inroads into Democrat comtrol. I don’t think this bodes ill for the 2026 mid-terms.

What you describe is a problem that has plagued the GOP for many decades, dating back to the Barry Goldwater Presidential campaign in 1964. Moderate Republicans stayed home or voted for Lyndon Johnson. On the other hand, conservatives who strongly supported Donald Trump and Ronald Reagan were rather indifferent or weakly supportive of moderate Republican Presidential candidates like John McCain, Bob Dole, and Mitt Romney.

Part of the weakness of the GOP east of the Alleghenies and north of North Carolina is the decline in influence of the descendants of colonial settlers, families like the Frelinghuysens, Rockefellers, Weickers, Lodges, etc., in both their native region and the Republican Party. There are a lot of reasons for this decline but it has led to the decimation of the GOP in the Northeast. Virginia has become a de facto Northeastern state while Pennsylvania has a Rust Belt and Appalachian area west of Interstate 81 that makes it less Northeastern than its geography would indicate.

I wish you the best of luck winning elections solely with lockstep true believers.

As is typical here in Texas, once a 2nd-tier Republican candidate loses in a primary, their supporters just throw up their hands in a sour-grapes gesture. They are NOT likely to transfer over to the winning Republican candidate, at least not by huge numbers. This gives the Democrat candidate a definitely boost.

That may or may not be true, but in this case it's plausible.

We're talking about the pro-casino gambling candidate's supporters voting for the Christian nationalist candidate who morally objected to casino gambling. This wouldn't be a case of apathy or sour grapes, but a "core values" situation. It would be like voters in 1919 who supported alcohol sales switching their vote to the candidate who supported ratification of the 18th amendment constitutional ban on alcohol sales. It's a fundamental opposition to their core values.

Therefore, one would have to hope that voters who sat out the election become motivated in the runoff to vote for the Republican to make up the shortfall.

The fact that Republican candidates in Virginia and New Jersey came as close as they did means this isn’t the “blue wave” victory the demonrats are trying to portray.

(Mississippi lost two Republican seats to democrats losing supermajority. Georgia also lost two seats that flipped to democrats.)

I didn’t hear about those until now - great

I mainly watched the big 3 of NYC Virginia and New Jersey

The talking heads were saying that the Republicans weren’t motivated if President Trump wasn’t on the ballot.

Then again I’m not surprised by Democrats voting for the Godless agendas and candidates.

That’s why they voted for Biden. All that matters to them is the “D”.

The Left is madly motivated.
No Kings!, Hitler!, dictator!

The Right just gets annoyed that they have to drop off their ballot or stop to vote on the way home from work…or maybe they don’t at all.

There was an election?
Thought Trump had this handled…etc.
I don’t watch the news etc.
My vote never counts etc.

Disengaged.

No excuse.

If you know people who did not vote, knock them upside the head.

I live in a blue state, I always vote anyway.

I know so frustrating. I wish some would take these election results seriously. It’s been this way since 2017. If Trump is not on the ballot, we lose. The proof is so obvious. But many think the sun is shining.

Heh

There’s a lot of apathy in churches too unfortunately.

The Democrats are often MUCH more motivated to install
Godless politicians and are often successful.

We will not reverse the world from its doomed course.

But too many have surrendered too early.

President Trump is right - if we got motivated (the church) we’d lose a lot less. An abortion issue failed here in the Midwest yet President Trump clearly won on the same day.

Because.... surrender to Godless Agendas...

We may well see the standard (overwhelmingly) midterm which will then be declared a referendum on President Trump

Sigh 😔

No wonder we got Joe Biden.

No wonder NYC is so dumb and stupid.

Too think that a black Jamaican woman, can win a Governor’s election VA. is preposterous.

Not so preposterous. She won the Lt. Governor election in VA several years ago. That's a highly visible state-level position.

“ The Democrats are often MUCH more motivated to install

Democrats do the same when they invade your church.

You end up helping to build another…and the cycle continues…

They cannot defeat Christ, they just die angry in the end.

Fight, Fight, Fight!
