A Texas mom is accused of packing up her entire apartment while her child was at school, and moving out without telling him.
Erica Renee Sanders has been charged with felony child endangerment after allegedly moving out of the Copperas Cove apartment where she and her 12-year-old son were staying while he was at school — without informing him, according to a complaint obtained by PEOPLE. Local outlet KWTX was first to report the news.
The middle schooler’s principal alerted officers with the Copperas Cove Police Department to the situation around 5:18 p.m. local time on Friday, Oct. 17, after the 12-year-old, upon exiting the school bus to go home, saw that “his family packed up and moved and left him there,” according to the complaint.
The “furniture and other household items” that had been in the apartment when the young boy left for school that Friday morning were gone, according to a responding officer’s account of the events. The officer, who described the unit as “empty” and “completely barren,” said the boy confirmed that “the apartment was not like that when he left.”

I don’t know where you are from, but I mighta been in that buddy group. My mother had five daughters, the youngest 3 of us were usually with her together. She would start with the baby and introduce her as the baby. Sister 4th in line was the blonde curly headed one, which is how she got introduced. And I, the 3rd daughter/middle child was always introduced as the chubby one. I have her voice in my head saying that out loud and that was about 70 years ago!
Usually they kill the previous father’s offspring in the wild.
“I have to wonder which it is. I guess the world will find out... eventually.”
The problem is this could make a good kid bad.
When I was 12, my parents moved while I was away at summer camp, but they came and got me afterwards.

It could. Emotional trauma is extremely damaging to humans. Feelings of rejection have caused major damage in families throughout history. I mean...
look what happened with Cain and Abel.
Hey, this actually happened to me too, at about the same age!
Only I was at Summer Camp, where I spent all summer, for a few years, not school.
Got a ride with the camp cook, who was going into town for supplies, he was going to drop me off at home, and pick me up on the way back to camp... Anyway, drove up to the house, and found it to be completely empty. I was a bit disconcerted; I knew Mom & Dad were building a new house, had been there once in the early days of construction, but had no idea of how to get there or when they were planning the move.
Anyway we tracked them down at Dad’s office (Mom was his secretary), and they were surprised to see me. Explained that they wanted to surprise me with the new house and my new bedroom when they picked me up after the summer camp season was over.
I’ll admit that I had a few moments of feeling abandoned, Poor kid in this story. I hope he finds a good stable family to live with, not his trash ‘birthing person’ (She’s not a mother).
Child abandonment is still a crime, isn’t it?
Amazing similarity between your tale and mine. Happened at about the same time too. Summer of ‘63.
!!!
You should listen to Yogi. I looked too....yep.
When I was ten, my parents sent me and my older brother to “visit” family friends for 2 weeks while they packed up the house. We took a Greyhound bus there and back. The day after we got back, we moved to the town where my grandparents lived. I never got to say goodbye to my old friends. I started at the next school the very next day.
The only thing I can say about it that protected me, was that we moved every couple of years, so I was used to moving and changing schools. I didn’t like it, though.
This poor kid, whether he’s difficult or not, doesn’t deserve to be abandoned by his mom. That’s just wrong.
Didn’t need to look.
Well, when I was 15, and on the day my parents moved, they were kind enough to tell me where to get off the bus on my way home and the location of our new apartment.
I think we did that test on our 4 yr old grandson about 27 years ago...he’s 31 now, just got married, employed, and planning on having a family. And white, altho I think it doesn’t matter the color..it is the parenting, and maybe genes too.
Bkmk
Back in the 1930s my grandmother was constantly on the move. My grandfather would come home from work and find a note on the door,”We have moved to (such and such) address.”
Prayers for this child.
Yup! Color me shocked! 🙄
Black Principal’s Race-Only Assembly Sparks Outrage at Dallas High School. Claims Black Students Must be the “Priority” Over Everyone Else

Today on “Stinchfield,” Grant reads the email where the student whistleblower claims his black Principal even boasted about “only hiring Black staff.” That declaration appears to be a proud admission of the discrimination.
It is the latest example of the disgusting use of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) that only leads to poor outcomes and lots of controversy.
Sounds like she left the apartment in good condition.
