Drinking enough water before bed helps you sleep more efficiently, it seems. Otherwise you wake up fatigued, even if sleeping longer.
I know many will say this will make them wake up to pee, interrupting their sleep.

“18 college-aged males”
Not a lot of getting up to pee during the night with that group of test subjects. Now repeat for 60 to 80 year old men1

Obviously they never heard of old ladies having to pee every hour. Drinking more fluids before bed is the last thing we need to do.

Yea.
If yer over 50, you’re gonna have issues with this.
Maybe we could pull an Eric Cartman.
Wear a condom to bed, pee in it all night, then happily splatter it against the nearest wall when we wake up. Grateful for a full night’s sleep.
Mom will clean it up. No worries.
4 to 6 hours before our bladders say, “You’d better get up, or you’ll be waking up in a puddle. With a REALLY pissed off Wife next to you.”

On the second day, they were euhydrated, meaning they were well-hydrated from having consumed 500 milliliters of water the evening prior.
Water, you mean like from the toilet?

I found out that drinking a lot of water during the day, then slowing my water intake around 7PM keeps me hydrated without all the extra bathroom calls....

I know many will say this will make them wake up to pee, interrupting their sleep. I learned to wake up for this duty as soon as I dream about hunting for a restroom in the mall or an office building with many partitions. This is better than allowing the dream to find a proper urinal. ;-D
But, yes, I do sleep better when fully tanked.

I’m with the group of more water I drink during the day, the more times I wake up during the night to empty my bladder.
I wonder what the age groups were that they did the tests with. Perhaps the ‘need to pee’ is due to aging, especially if one drinks a pint of water, 500 milliliters, before going to bed.
