Very sad. I’ve been listening to Ace shred as long as I’ve been listening to music. RIP Space Ace.
Too bad. He was going to be at the Kennedy Centrr in December to receive honors with tge other 3 original members.
Sad news. Getting to 74 is pretty good for an old rocker.
omg RIP Ace
How did a minor fall cause this? Does anyone know?

‘Beth’ is a darn good song. Don’t know if he wrote it, rip.
Paul Stanley mentioned in his autobiography how, while on tour, he was relaxing in his hotel room when he heard guitar music coming from outside. He thought the guitar player was most excellent, the best he ever heard. Who could be playing so well? So, he went out onto the balcony of his hotel room to see. The talented guitar player was Ace who was playing on his room’s balcony right next door.
Of course, Ace was naked at the time.
When the four KISS members released solo albums in 1978, Ace was the only one to score a top 40 hit. “New York Groove” hit #13 on the Billboard Hot 100.
A lot of us were just teens when Kiss hit the scenes with their outrageous outfits (for the times). I liked their music but not enough to buy their albums.
RIP ACE
They always put on a good show .
A lot of musicians from my generation died this year : Ace Frehley, Rick Derringer, Marianne Faithfull, John Lodge, Sly from Sly and the Family Stone, Chris Dreja (Yard Birds), Rick Davis (Supertramp), Mark Volman (Turtles), Ozzy Ozborne, George Kooymans (Golden Earring), Chuck Mangione, Connie Francis, Dave Cousins (Strawbs), Brian Wilson, Jesse Colin Young, Roberta Flack, Garth Hudson, Peter Yarrow from Peter Paul and Mary... and the year is not even over yet.
I was one of those KISS fans as a kid. Like others, I took up guitar after seeing them on the Midnight Special. And then getting a couple of 8 tracks. His interview with Tom Snyder is classic.
I followed him after he left KISS and really kept up over the last 15 or so years thanks to social media and YouTube.
I read his book and found that interesting. He filled in some holes too. Admitted he had issues but he turned sober and has been sober for over a decade.
As a kid he avoided street gangs by playing guitar. He credited Led Zep’s first album as what really got him. He sneaked into a Jimi Hendricks concert at Shea stadium and someone thought he was with the band, and he ended up working on Mitch Mitchell’s drum kit. Too bad they band didn’t ever get back together the final time.
