The Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC) is 100 times larger in volume than the Amazon River and wraps completely around the frozen South Pole continent of Antarctica
===========================================================
Scientists are warning of a potential global environmental catastrophe as a colossal ocean current, five times stronger than the Gulf Stream, risks collapsing. The Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC), which is 100 times larger in volume than the Amazon River, encircles the icy continent of Antarctica.
Similar to the Gulf Stream that brings warm water across the North Atlantic to the UK, the ACC plays a crucial role in influencing weather systems and climate globally. The Gulf Stream's warm waters flowing towards Britain are responsible for keeping the UK, and Europe, significantly warmer than other locations at the same latitude elsewhere in the world.
According to research on core samples extracted by the University of Bonn, the ACC is experiencing a slowdown in speed and power, operating at a pace three times slower than it was 130,000 years ago. The news emerges as rip current warning was issued for Florida beaches as swimmers told 'stay out of water'.
The Mail Online reports that the ACC is responsible for transporting cold and warm water currents, as well as dissolved carbon and nutrients between oceans worldwide.
Dr Michael Weber, the lead of the University of Bonn expedition, stated:
"The velocity in the second-to-last warm period, roughly 130,000 years ago, was more than three times greater than in the last millennia comprising the current warm period.", reports the Express.
Dr Bishakhdatta Gayen, an associate professor at the University of Melbourne, weighed in on the study, stating:
"If this current 'engine' breaks down, there could be severe consequences, including more climate variability, with greater extremes in certain regions.
"And accelerated global warming due to a reduction in the ocean's capacity to act as a carbon sink."
The ACC circulates water around the southern region of the Earth, distributing water and nutrients between the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans.
Scientists from Bonn examined sediment samples gathered by a research vessel in the Scotia Sea, located north of the Antarctic continent.
Utilizing a supercomputer, researchers from the University of Melbourne modeled the impact of climate change on the ACC.
Alarmingly, they discovered that rising temperatures could reduce the flow by an additional 20% by 2050.

Betcha 100 times, is normal, and yearly
Brought to you by the same clowns who can't even get the weather right two days out from now, and that eggs are terrible, ..."wait good, no terrible, no, no, wait....good but terrible...wait..."
“The velocity in the second-to-last warm period, roughly 130,000 years ago...”
Too many campfires messed up the circulation.
Surf up anywhere?
The movie “Day After Tomorrow” covered this...................
While ifs and buts
Drive liberals nuts
The sane folks
Keep living our lives
How can they know what the velocity was 130,009 years ago?
>> The movie “Day After Tomorrow” covered this...
Is that anything like “Free Beer Tomorrow”...?
Tape it to your mirror: WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE! Tomorrow...
>> How can they know what the velocity was 130,009 years ago?
The same way they knew that if you stand exactly 6 feet apart you won’t get Kung Flu because it only travels 5.99 feet.
They’re SCIENTISTS. They went to college and they know molecules and math and thermoclines and stuff. So shut up and believe!
“For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” (1 Colossians 1:16-17)
Christ holds everything together. Because He made everything.
To get a visual, it's talking about the warm period below to the left of the 100,000 years ago mark.
Use big fans to help.
I LIKE it!
He must have used Gorilla Glue...................
Right, they’re scientists. That’s how they know we can change our gender at will, just by wishing it so. Who needs actual proof?
What in the bloody hell do those two statements have to do with each other. The article is about the Antarctic Circumpolar Current. Rip currents on Florida beaches are a complete irrelevancy. What bullstuff is the author trying to feed us?
Lol.
Man, every time you turn around scientists are discovering something that’s gonna kill us all. We should probably lock up all the scientists.
