HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - A former Huntsville lead pastor is facing federal wire and tax fraud charges.

Adrian Davis, the former lead pastor of All Nations Worship Assembly (ANWA), is facing charges of wire fraud and filing a false tax return.

According to court records obtained by WAFF 48 News, Davis served as a marketing consultant for ANWA and received a salary and a parsonage for his services.

In turn, Davis is accused of using the funds on cars, entertainment and other personal expenses.

WIRE FRAUD

Court records state that although ANWA authorized Davis to receive a salary and parsonage, he was not authorized to use the funds for personal expenses.

The records state the following:

In 2018, Davis used ANWA funds to buy an Audi A7 vehicle for $30,920 and he spent $4,000 on “miscellaneous entertainment and retail items” not approved by ANWA

In 2019, Davis used ANWA funds to buy a 2016 GMC Yukon for $45,982 and he spent more than $31,000 on “miscellaneous entertainment and retail items” not approved by ANWA

Davis used more than $10,000 of ANWA funds to pay for a mortgage on a home for his mother

Davis used ANWA funds to make 41 payments to American Express totaling more than $117,000 to pay off his personal credit cards

Purchases made on this card included:

a $4,970.15 purchase from Louis Vuitton

a $5,300.00 purchase from Flight Club (a shoe store in New York)

In 2020, Davis used ANWA funds to pay off a Synchrony Bank credit card for $18,530 that he used to buy jewelry and he spent $7,000 on miscellaneous entertainment and retail items not approved by ANWA

Also used more than $14,000 of ANWA funds to pay for a mortgage on a home for his mother

Used AWNA funds to make 44 payments to American Express totaling more than $151,000 to pay off his personal credit card

Purchases made on this card included:

a $29,900 purchase from Hublot (Swiss luxury watchmaker)

a $28,000 purchase from Peter Marco (California-based jeweler)

a $6,022.50 purchase from Louis Vuitton

According to court documents, he used more than $400,000 in ANWA funds for personal purposes without authorization.

Court documents also claim Davis wired $13,663.14 across state lines from ANWA’s back account at Redstone Federal Credit Union to American Express to pay off Davis’ personal credit card.

FILING A FALSE TAX RETURN

In March 2021, Davis filed his taxes, where the return reported that he received $138,621, but he allegedly made more than that.

FORFEITURE

“Upon conviction of Count One (Wire Fraud) in this information, shall forfeit to the United States any property, real or personal, that constitutes or is derived from, directly or indirectly, proceeds traceable to the commission of the said violations, including but not limited to a forfeiture of money judgment representing the amount of proceeds obtained as a result of the offenses alleged.”

PLEA DEAL

Federal court records show that Davis has signed a plea deal for both charges filed against him. As part of the plea deal, he will agree to do the following:

Pay restitution of $434,340.41 to All Nations Worship Assembly

Pay $114,859 to the IRS

Wave certain rights to direct appeal and collateral attack

Total Restituiton = $549,199.41

MAXIMUM PUNISHMENT

For Wire Fraud, the maximum sentence is 20 years in prison, a fine of not more than $250,000 or both; supervised release of no more than three years and a special assessment of $100.

For Filing a False Tax Return, the maximum sentence in prison is three years, a fine of not more than $250,000 or both; supervised release of no more than one year and a special assessment of $100.

ARRAIGNMENT

Davis is set to be arraigned on October 23 at 9:30 a.m. in Huntsville.

I’d like to know what his formal education is. Al Sharpton says he’s a “Rev” but has never had a congregation, church, or gone to divinity school. He was “ordained” by a DC preacher at age 10 and has perpetuated the lie ever since. I think a lot of these guys have the gift of gab and parley that into the church and then rob it blind.

Did the church have any accountants who were in on this too? It seems like a lot to overlook.

I am a president of a local charity social club. I can’t even write a check for $20 without two other people approving it and signing the check. I bet the whole leadership of that “church” was in on it.

Knew it was a brutha. I knew one in my community who owned three luxury cars, flash lifestyle and was “ministering” to lonely wives while their husbands worked.
It’s like they watched the movie Elmer Gantry and decided, “I can do that!”

Some of the “Freelance” pastors are self-appointed “reverends” that require no concrete credentials, only a small group of people who will give their imprimatur of his qualifications to be a pastor.

This is a two-edged sword, as a lot of such pastors have been given their authority by God’s providence. A.W. Tozer was one of them. Barely educated formally, he had laser-sharp insight and the ability to express it convincingly.

And Tozer never even sought to buy any car at all.
