In India, some of the biggest jobs in tech come to you.
Graduates of the Indian Institute of Technology (ITT), one of the country’s most prestigious universities, are recruited directly by Indian companies as well as American firms looking to lock down some of the world’s top talent in fields that will dominate the future, such as artificial intelligence and robotics.
Many of them also continue their studies in the United States, where India overtook China last year as the biggest source of foreign students. But policy decisions and other moves by the Trump administration, including the recently announced $100,000 fee for the H-1B skilled immigrant work visa, now have those graduates thinking twice about going to America.
“About 20 students are graduating from my department, and nearly 10 to 15 have a postdoctoral offer from the U.S.,” said Ajaykumar Udayraj Yadav, a materials science and engineering doctoral candidate working on energy storage systems, who is among the student volunteers at the Office of Career Services at IIT’s New Delhi campus.
“But the way they’re seeing the situation develop in the U.S., these students are unwilling to take them up,” he said.

U.S. tech leaders who once held H-1B visas include Satya Nadella, the chairman and chief executive of Microsoft; Sundar Pichai, chief executive of Google and its parent company, Alphabet; and Elon Musk.

“China welcomes outstanding talent from all industries and sectors around the globe to come to China, take root in China, and work together to advance human society,” foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun told reporters in Beijing last month.

We don’t care.
Color me surprised.
I do not approve of that.
I do how ever approve of this.
Trump Admin takes a wood chipper to the American dreams for Indian students...
Also acceptable..
Trump Admin takes a flame thrower to the American dreams for Indian students...
The high tech startup company I just retired from hired a consulting group. They immediately hired dozens of Indians, many working in India. Then they built two giant manufacturing plants, one in Thailand, where the government is locking its citizens out of their own bank accounts, and another one in Mexico. Then the product they were producing (optical systems for self driving cars) had a huge fail rate in the field. Then the company stock crashed from it’s high of $38 per share to $1. Then they did a reverse split and my 15,000 shares became 1,500 shares.
My view, that I’ve said here many times, is END ALL IMMIGRATION NOW!
they still dont know how to use a bathroom believe me..
and they smell too
it’s not just IT they have infested, its health insurance co.
had a CEo of a subsidiary of Anthem who was an indian, came here as a kid. was in the obama admin fresh out of residency. hired all indian IT, and and screwed up the claims dept badly.. left during covid, adn took over another very good medicare advantage here in calif.. i am sure he will screw that co up soon
Every sob story is about Indians. The Indian dream is to get out of India, because it’s an s-hole. It’s an s-hole because it’s full of Indians. Those same Indians come here and continue Indian norms, such as the caste system and open defecation.
The caste system is antithetical to what America stands for.
If you can point out where “Protecting American jobs is the duty of our government”/is enumerated in the Constitution, that’d be great.
Is limiting immigration to zero if necessary unconstitutional? How long would any nation last if the govt purposely replaced their citizens with foreign workers? I guess if we keep going the way we were we’d find out:
What other nation lets in hundreds of thousands of replacement workers? Not one:
I consider protecting us citizens from harmful invasion and unbridled immigration part of border protection.
“ The U.S. Constitution does not explicitly mention border protection; however, Article IV, Section 4 states that the United States shall protect each state against invasion. This has been interpreted to imply a responsibility for the federal government to manage and secure national borders”
The Founding Fathers clearly believed in a land owning aristocracy, but it was something you could buy into.
I can only think of one H1B ‘superstar’ I’ve ever met and he was Romanian.
