Mom initially wanted to do that, but it would block the stairs too much, even with the seat folded up. :-(
Yesterday was a cold, “raw” sort of a day. It was blustery & upper 40’s, but felt colder. It was drizzling in the morning when I was trying to get numbers on the mailbox. The numbers were on the old wooden post, not the box - the new post is round metal, not conducive to attaching munbers so I had to put them on the box. The wind was blowing hard, drizzling, fingers numb, eyes watering - I had to go inside to be able to get the backing peeled off the numbers.
Later in the morning, I got what I hope will be my last batch of cinnamon apples in the big crockpot (16 apples). This gives me 6 quarts to freeze.
Visited my cousin in the hospital, trying to encourage her with an invite to Thanksgiving. She’s been in the hospital since Sept 7 - inpatient rehab right now, but also keeping an eye on her heart condition. I am seriously wondering now if she’ll be able to live in her home or if she’ll have to go to a facility.
The country store where I ordered oysters last year for Christmas is not doing oyster orders this year. A cousin told me about another small store that is doing orders - talked to the owner last night & I think this place is going to work out. My cousin is ordering oysters from them for our annual big family dinner Dec. 14 - this is the week before I need to order so we’ll see how that turns out - oyster size, etc.
Watched the World Series game - the Blue Jays rookie pitcher did an awesome job. Back to Toronto for Game 6 and if necessary, Game 7.
Soggy day, cloudy & chilly now, but should make about 62 later in the day. We got 0.98” of rain overnight that was sorely needed.

Uhhh, that sounds like I would married to my BROTHER. I used to get so frustrated around all the tools. Yes, I do know the difference between a pliers and a wrench, but when it comes to which type of pliers or which kind of wrench, then I’m confused.
The way to punish me growing up was to shove a box of mixed screws, nuts, bolts, etc at me, and have me sort them to someone else’s expectations. Same length screw but different sized threads do NOT belong together! Ugh.
With my hubby, it’s not my problem. Especially if I keep the beer fridge stocked and the sports on the tv. (Good thing I really like watching most sports!)
Made the Zuppa Toscana soup today. Beats the Olive Garden IMO. I used bulk sweet italian sausage, real cream, and spinach instead of 😡😡😡 kale 😡😡😡. Less potatoes and I thickened with a bit of corn starch slurry before adding the cream. Gonna have to freeze some though. I did not feel like cutting the recipe in half.
Your Toscano Soup version sounds deelish.......will try.
(Be Tricksy! If you put out peeps and candy corn they will have no choice but to discard them and eat the Broccoli!)

Other than a few friends who have brought kids over just to show off their costumes, that’s been about it. And those kids got CASH MONEY, LOL!

The shape can vary between pear-shaped and round. Silver edge squash earned its name from the silver-edged seeds inside. The seeds are great for snacking, and for making Pipian sauce, which is a type of mole. If picked younger, the squash itself can be treated and used like zucchini. When cut into slices, dipped in egg and panko crumbs, and fried, these make an excellent snack-treat, similar to fried zuccini."
We live in a neighborhood where we suspect they bus kids in from other areas. The last few years we have started taking our solo stove into the driveway, and having our own little party with friends as we hand out candy.
Last year I had some juice boxes on hand from when my grands were here, and those were well received by the parents of the toddlers, who are so adorable in their costumes. So this year I’m also giving out cutie mandarins for the kids and water bottles for the grown ups, should they want them. This is in addition to candy.
Dinner is a vegetarian chili with cornbread. It’s easy for me to make a big pot all at once and freeze portions for later use. It’s super yummy and no one realizes that they’re eating so many vegetables (eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash, along with the tomato base). There’s also a mushroom based meatless crumble that looks like ground beef but isn’t. It’s one of the only true vegetarian meals I make, and this one has been a Halloween tradition for us since we moved to Indiana 12 years ago.

I have grown the ‘Speckled Hound’ squash before - it’s good and pretty and a good keeper! And of course, the NAME!
Another is ‘Lakota’ because we once HAD a speckled hound by that name. ‘Lakota’ wasn’t as long a keeper, but still pretty and still good tasting.
Can you post your recipe for Cornbread? Mine is always a FLOP whether it’s a pan of it, or as muffins. One thing I have yet to master!
And seriously, they are SO loaded with calories that if I’m going to WASTE calories on them, then NEED to be perfection!
