When Pratham Jain graduated in May with a Master’s in Business and Science from a reputable US university, job-hunting wasn’t the main hurdle.“In the beginning, my focus was on classes, internships and making the most of the campus life. But as graduation got closer,” he says, “the visa conversation started to overshadow everything.”

“Every international student I know keeps one eye on their grades and the other on Washington, because even a small policy change can completely reshape your career path,” Jain says. “It’s almost like earning a second degree here, one in navigating immigration paperwork, deadlines, and constantly changing policies.”
In the two years that Jain has been in the US, he feels a tangible shift.
“Back then, the path ahead felt clear: Complete my degree, find a job, have my employer file for an H-1B, and continue to grow,” he adds. “In just the past few months, though, that sense of certainty has disappeared. Nothing feels settled anymore.”

“Each day feels like a new struggle, marked by uncertainty and stress. Our future often seems to hang by a thread,” says Vasu Reddy, also a Master’s student of data science in the US. “Being away from family, adapting to a new culture, and constantly working to prove myself in a competitive environment has been challenging. Despite the resilience I have built, I cannot help but feel nervous that all this hard work and sacrifice might be overshadowed by circumstances beyond my control.”

Will the Indian students in this article be given a visa?
“English is widely spoken in India...particularly by the better educated. “
I am not sure what most of them speak, but it is certainly not English.
It should not be the goal of Indian college students to come to America on H1-B visas to undercut the wages of Americans. The H1-B program must not be a jobs program for foreigners. Stay at home and Make India Great Again.
It’s a start. I wish the fee was annual. Actually just kill the whole damn American dream killing visa.
There are a lot of things that most are not aware of that are pushing us towards socialism. The h-1b visa blight is one of them. It turns our best and brightest young into cynical anti capitalists. What does it say when your own government is putting foreign nationals ahead of you?
Dot’s really tough. . . ;)
Lol!
Existing H1B should be limited to 3 to 5 years and then not renewed. Plenty of time to train their American replacements.
New H1B should be limited to senior level people and again limited to just a couple of years. And only a fraction of the number currently being handed out
If you can train an H1B you can train an American..
H1B should be ceased immediately and tech companies should be forced to pay reparations to white males going back 30 years.
I worked in the tech industry for years and have experience with the H1B system. There is no question that there is massive abuse and loss of jobs for Americans but Trump’s approach is designed to fix the problem over a reasonable time period while preserving America’s lead in technology. Killing the H1B system immediately would crash the US tech industry for sure and result in major offshoring of technology work, killing our competitive position. If you have a growth on your arm you treat the growth, not unnecessarily chop off your arm.
The reasons for all of the Indian and other Asian H1B in tech is due to race capture. Once managers of a particular culture get into leadership, they tend to focus hiring of others from the same culture. Foreign cultures, especially eastern in origin, tend to be more xenophobic against cultures not of their own.
I’ve been in tech for decades.
It is totally grift.
Troll.

I keep asking that too. If H1B Indians are such rocket surgeons doing such cutting edge innovation and are oh so smart and all rather than just being cheap labor.....how come India doesn't have a booming tech sector? Why do these people suddenly become very ordinary once they leave the US?
He should blame clown Modi of India for persisting in buying cheapo Russian oil. That Indian companies refine, to sell as distillates on the world markets. Against El Supremo Trump’s wishes. This clampdown on H1B’s, with new $100,000 registration fees, is part of PDJT’s retaliation.
Young Americans aren’t allowed to dream?
All they can do is become plumbers carpenters and landscapers for 3rd world H1B migrants????
Now you’re talking!
The horror, the horror.
The American dream is not benefiting Americans.
