Wuthering Heights director Emerald Fennell has claimed that the literary classic is 'full of S&M' after her new film's raunchy first trailer was branded 'erotic softcore porn'.
Starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, this racy new version of Emily Bronte's iconic novel is set to hit cinemas next Valentine's Day.
Those expecting a faithful adaptation of the beloved work may be in for a rude awakening as Emerald's upcoming film is said to lean into the 'stylised depravity' she has become known for after directing the 2023 hit Saltburn.

The Bronte sisters lived in an isolated Yorkshire village in the middle of the 19th century. They were socially restricted as the neighborhood was decidedly working class and the daughters of an educated clergyman were of a higher social status than the people they lived amongst. Charlotte made, however, lifelong friends from school mates but Emily, author of Wuthering Heights, was primarily a shy loner. Her only novel did not deal with physical lust but with the natural world infused with the spiritual. She would be ashamed at the mess modern film makers have made of her characters. I wonder the Bronte Society does not try to stop this degeneracy.

Very dark story, but the Timothy Dalton version in the 70’s was really good. Dalton did a great job as the tortured, brooding Heathcliff. Had the perfect face for the role. Don’t remember the woman who played Kathy, but she did a great job too.
I dont know, but he might be right. Society was more kinky than we think it was and writers, to avoid being banned, would resort to using code phrases to hide the real meaning of their words.

Instead of actually being a nice woman and finding a GOOD, strong, dominant man who gets things done, works hard for his family, knows how to do stuff, and loves his woman and takes care of and cherishes her (they are hard to find), they choose the simps and wimps they can steamroll. Because they believe cooking a meal and letting their husband lead the family is taking away their “power”.
