Players reached out to apologize but didn’t say if the one who did it was one of them. This couldn’t have been his first incident. It went on and on for a while, so where the heck were the coaches?

You might not be that far off. I’m a retired urban high school teacher. One day, a student was caught trying to bring a handgun into the school. That is obviously a very serious offense.

Turns out the kid was a star football player. So the police were not called. I’m guessing he did get a good talking-to, though.
