Hours after the US administration put a prohibitive USD 100,000 (about Rs 88 lakh) as fee for H-1B visa applications, India said on Saturday that this measure is likely to have “humanitarian consequences by way of the disruption caused for families” and the Indian government expressed hoped that these disruptions can be “addressed suitably by the US authorities”.
The Ministry of External Affairs’ official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “The Government has seen reports related to the proposed restrictions on the US H-1B visa program. The full implications of the measure are being studied by all concerned, including by Indian industry, which has already put out an initial analysis clarifying some perceptions related to the H-1B program.”
He said that the industry in both India and the US has a “stake in innovation and creativity” and can be expected to “consult on the best path forward”.
“Skilled talent mobility and exchanges have contributed enormously to technology development, innovation, economic growth, competitiveness and wealth creation in the United States and India,” the MEA spokesperson said, adding that “policy makers will therefore assess recent steps taking into account mutual benefits, which include strong people-to-people ties between the two countries.”
“This measure is likely to have humanitarian consequences by way of the disruption caused for families. Government hopes that these disruptions can be addressed suitably by the US authorities,” it said.

Yes, they certainly weren’t winning the hearts of their host country’s citizens for the most part.
I remember early in my career, I was working at an engineering company. I went to the break room one morning for a cup of coffee and there was an Indian standing there, waiting. When I walked in, he said in an entitled manner, “Oh, good. You are here. The coffee pot is empty.”
In a friendly tone, I replied, “Oh, it sounds like you need to learn how to make a fresh pot. Here, I’ll teach you. First, you need to pull the basket out and throw away the old grinds…” I proceeded to instruct him, pointing to things, but not demonstrating how to do it.
He was clearly furious, but knew he couldn’t really demand that I make a pot. (Which I always did if I came upon an empty or near empty pot.) He went about making the pot of coffee and I couldn’t resist saying, “There! Wasn’t that easy?”
I’m not sorry to say that I kind of enjoyed that. 😁

H1B was/is THE MOST CORRUPT program in the history of the United States of America. And now it is DONE. Americans had enough, they elected Donald Trump to pull the plug, and he did just that.
Indians haven’t ‘stolen’ jobs - we GAVE the jobs to them; and we did it because companies wanted the cheaper labor.
Saying they ‘stole’ jobs is like saying China ‘stole’ manufacturing that our companies willingly off-shored.
There is no “like”, anyone not in the Indian upper castes are invisible or “untouchable”. That’s literally the name of their lowest caste. Horrible people.
Marcus is upset because he’ll have to pay 100k a year to stay here; otherwise he’ll get deported back to Ukraine and might have to fight for his ‘country’.
I’d prefer there be a billion dollar fee on anyone from the Arab Muslim middle east.

This is a start. This program needs to be abolished.
