I thought it looked fake as heck. Some Freepers here said it looked like it was written by a lawyer. I asked GPT. Here's what it says:
"This looks more like a screenshot of text made to appear incriminating or dramatic rather than a genuine confession. A few reasons why:
1. Tone and Word Choice
The writing mixes very casual “idk” and “love” with serious statements about rifles, the FBI, Trump, and turning oneself in. Real confessions or legal exchanges are usually more consistent in tone.
The use of emoticons like “;-;” and shorthand (“rn,” “idk”) is more typical of casual online chat, not someone in a truly panicked or legal situation.
2. Context Gaps
We don’t see full conversations, just clipped snippets separated by ellipses. This makes it easier to take lines out of context.
The statements don’t flow naturally into one another (e.g., jumping from rifles to Trump to “I’m turning myself in” without clear continuity).
3. Overly On-the-Nose Content
It hits multiple “hot button” issues in one short space (guns, MAGA politics, the FBI, media silence, asking for a lawyer). That’s unusual for authentic chat, but common in fabricated or dramatized exchanges.
4. Lack of Verifiable Details
A real confession usually includes specifics (dates, names, places, actions). Here it’s all vague: “grandpa’s gun,” “my dad,” “the sheriff,” “the feds.”
5. Instruction to Stay Silent
“Don’t talk to the media… ask for a lawyer and stay silent” feels like something inserted to make the exchange seem conspiratorial or serious, but in practice, it reads like a script.
Conclusion: It does not read as a genuine, spontaneous confession. It looks more like a staged or fabricated text exchange, possibly for satire, misinformation, or dramatization."
Freepers are the best critical thinkers of any forum I know, but the sheep can really go full retard sometimes.
As I said above: The shooter is a mormon-raised, pro-trans, pro-furry, terminally online, leftist psychopath. He was in a relationship with a trans furry who was also terminally online.
Texting in full sentences - is that like using your child’s middle name to let them know that they are in trouble?
Because you have difficulties texting this is proof the texting conversation is fake?
I think it’s very clearly an attempt to whitewash his partner’s role after the fact.
An earlier draft (sarcasm):
“Dear Lover, I know you would never want to be involved in something like this, so I waited until after they got my rifle to send this to you. We both know you are totally innocent. I am so glad my friend Garrylynne can establish an alibi for you that you were totally not alone in the apartment when this was happening. Thank you for loving me and totally staying away from radicalizing on-line forums, even though I used your account and password to say that I wanted Charlie Kirk dead. Your friend, The Lone Wolf.”
I would also point out that it’s likely that the charging documents aren’t an exact transcript of the messages but may have some corrections or translations for clarity.
Did you mean to include being Mormon with being pro-trans or didn't you?
Help a brother out?
I wouldn’t rely on AI for anything but it is somewhat amusing.
Most texts I get from a wide variety of people have many of the same typos. It’s due to big fingers on a small virtual keyboard.
Do you always see letter-perfect text messages? Especially right after you murder someone?
What you SHOULD be saying then - is that these kids’ Utah/ Mormon up-bringing, and their culture’s seemingly conservative/traditional and peculiar speech patterns overwhelmingly trumps any mainstream, Gen Z, online/gamer trans/furry/LGBTQ common and trendy lexicon and diction
Is THAT what you are saying? Because that’s a reasonable argument.
Suddenly half of Free Republic who had a skepticism of artificial "intelligence" now believe the output of computer programs as facts.
You're a busy little Freeper, with comments # 6, 11, 14, 23, 26, 28, 29, 40, 43, 45, and 47 on a single thread.
It must be wonderful to be so wonderful as you, with such "critical thinking skills" as to contest with so many other Freepers. You seem in need of adulation, or at least attention.
Without knowing exactly what you asked ChatGPT, the answer is irrelevant. For example, someone could ask:
“ChatGPT, write me a few paragraphs arguing that the following text might be fake.”
I start much with skepticism. Certainly the FBI under Obama and Biden has been partisan and even willing, apparently, to destroy or at least hide evidence. Here's hoping some in the Trump administration get to the bottom of this mess.

I have nothing to compare it to. How many texts do we have from people after they murdered someone?
It struck me as something Adam shifty would write.
