Robert Redford, who starred in 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid', 'The Sting,' and 'All the President's Men', has died at 89
“I don’t have to ... kiss her. D-do I?”
Well Bob ...
If we were leftists we would cheer his passing. But we’re not. He was a great actor with the usual Hollywood worldview!
He was also great in Three Days of the Condor.
Well said.
He was the villain Alexander Pierce in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and he also played the father of Bryce Dallas Howard in the 2016 remake of “Pete’s Dragon”.
Indeed.
I didn’t care for Redford’s politics, but ‘The Sting’ is one of Hollywood’s best ever movies. What a great classic.
He was a lefty but I don’t recall him being obnoxious about it or using his celebrity to castigate those who disagreed with him. I respect his, and anyone else’s, right to their views. It never interfered with my respect and enjoyment of his art.

Like Kirk Douglas. He and John Wayne worked on several movies together, but politically they were polar opposites, but still respected each other.
He was a great movie star.
Great actor is debatable.
My favorite movie was Out of Africa.
Probably more because of the soundtrack.
He was just an actor. Not sure if he lived a life of significance.
No comment on RR. At least he got to live out his days. 89 not 31.
Don’t forget “Electric Horseman” with Jane Fonda ...
Have you ever watched Brubaker? That was a good one.
Redford was an excellent actor, but he was limited by his good looks, genial voice, and good guy persona. I never saw Redford play a tough guy. And when he played someone in a tough spot, he could seem to be uncomfortable and out of place.
I like another story along that line.
The old actor Victor Mature wanted to join some tony country club - he was a huge golfer - and they told him we do not allow actors to join. He replied ‘I’m no actor, and I’ve got fifty movies to prove it!’.
Wasn’t he moved to Cody, WY?
