Could Tyler Robinson have killed Charlie Kirk?

Posted on 09/14/2025 12:25:26 PM PDT by MisterMagic

There are a lot of people talking about not seeing Tyler Robinson leaving the rooftop with the rifle. But I don't see anyone asking if he could even made the shot. I'm no expert, but taking a single shot and killing your target at 200 yards requires more than a little experience shooting a gun. At that range the bullet is going to be affected by wind (if there was any), by a drop of several inches (or more) due to gravity, and shooting from a higher elevation is going to require compensation.

Where did Tyler Robinson learn enough to shoot at that distance?

Sorry, you’re right, it was the minister who was law enforcement. Initially, they were claiming his father was. But, I saw videos and pictures online of the Robinson family camping and target shooting.

Which is why a ball cap with a brim was worn - to help keep the sun out of his eyes.

It was that last minute turn of his head. Otherwise, the shooter may have been successful. Thank You Jesus!!!

My son has a 30.06 M1 Garand. I’ve only fired a couple rounds. 100 yards with steel sights. Drilled the bullseye.

I rarely shoot 100 yards. Don’t have a 200 yard range nearby.

With a scope it seems a pretty easy shot.

Nobody takes aim at the neck.
He missed his shot.

It was not disassembled. Watch the video closely. When he comes to the edge of the roof he lays the rifle down. It is covered with cloth or a similar material. As he goes over the edge you can see the rifle being picked up.

PUBG is a similar game to Call of Duty & Fortnite were 100 players parachute onto an island, find weapons and eliminate each other until the last man or team is standing. Probably another game that is responsible for desensitizing our youth to violence, but I do play it.

That’s my opinion as well, he got lucky that where it hit ended up being fatal.

I take photos of birds, plants, and flowers, backyard type of stuff. I do a lot of holding my breath, releasing slowly, and taking my “shot”. I don’t have an expensive camera, and can’t really afford a better one, but I get good enough shots without a tripod. At least, I’m improving. I believe the technique is similar to the kind of shots you’re talking about, but yours will give you pushback. The camera just clicks.

My Hornady refernce with a mauser page 415 vol 1 and p234 vol 2 . Argentine model 1891 . A 150 grain SPire point bullet with 39.4 grains of IMR3031 powder will do 2500 fps. A 50 yard zero drops 5.4 inches at 200 yards.

While in college in the 1970s, I owned an 8mm Mauser that was made in Argentina. It had German infantry iron sights. While roaming some farmland I spotted a post sticking out of the ground about six feet, that post being perhaps 300 yards away. From a free-standing position I sighted carefully on that post and took the shot. I then set rifle butt on the ground. A short time later we heard a sound similar to a church bell, and saw a grey puff of smoke centered on that post. We walked over to that post, only to discover it was a length of railroad track sticking out of the ground. The bullet vaporized upon impact. Now, THAT was a lucky shot.

[On the roof about to commit murder and a day at the range are really different experiences.]

As an army doctor, you presumably had to qualify with a pistol at routine intervals. A rifle is a completely different animal. A 50 foot shot with a 9mm from a standing position is hard. A 500 foot shot with a scoped rifle on a rest is easy.

He seems like a dork gamer, to me. I doubt he’s ever killed anyone before in his life. He didn’t even reload.

His family upbringing did give him familiarity with firearms. Perhaps he had hunting experience.

Video games taught him to shoot people in the head.

I expect to see more of this.

jimtorr wrote: “If the assassin was aiming for a head shot, then a shot to the neck makes sense.”

Aiming for the upper body also makes sense since an inexperienced rifleman tends to ‘jerk’ his shots resulting in a high and right impact (For a right handed shooter.)

I was wondering myself, but all of the Utah trannys tweeting “look out tomorrow!” basically sealed it.

Man is literally the apex predator. No desensitization needed. That’s why action movies have an audience, and so many battles have been rehashed over and over as epics. Because people crave tales of derring do where protagonists kill and risk being killed.

Google maps gives you the exact distance without visiting the rooftop.
