This looks like the gun, Mauser 18, which is manufactured in 30-06, as well as others.

The alleged JFK assassination weapon was an Italian war surplus 6.5mm Carcano rifle. The action was German designed by Mannlicher. The pistol used to kill Dallas police officer Tibbits was a .38 Special manufactured by Smith & Wesson if memory serves me correctly.
Thank you. I was wondering from the photo in #17, if this rifle could even eject an unfired round, or where it would land. The “gunsmith” had little room to work with for the scope front ring.
I have a Remington 700 30-06 and can hit bullseyes at 200 yards, and I am just an average deer hunter.
Poly.
Therefore the rifle must have been prepositioned on the rooftop or very nearby by Robinson or an accomplice.
I can only assume that the “limping man” video is either not Robinson or Robinson limping for some other reason than concealing the rifle barrel/action on his person.
“Some of the WWI Mausers guns had their barrel shortened as well.”
I just sold an Argentine Cavalry Mauser. Made in Berlin.
Yeah, the front ring is troublrng. It looks like it’s only halfway on the ring base.
That is a mauser, two bolts in the bottom of stock and the action, barrel and scope lift off the stock. The scope is mounted rearward owing to the fact that it is variable and the rear most lens is a larger diameter than front
The Mauser 66 is a commercial takedown rifle.
There seems to be a lot of ignorance amongst the press and so called “experts” about the capabilities of modern sporting rifles. I have no doubt that there are numerous hunters who can repeatedly make a similar 200 yard shot using a scoped modern black powder rifle w/a sabot round. (Maybe it's just as well the Leftists don't know just how capable the average deer hunter is. :^) )
I thought it weird that the rifle had no sling, or at least not pictured.
I believe the “official” report says that it was an Italian Carcano rifle.
____________
No, I think that ‘memory’ comes out of the JFK assassination ‘story.’
Carcano was what I heard also.
I cannot say if, or if not, the rifle was disassembled and reassembled.
No, the Springfield does not have a Mauser action. I have both. They are different.
Anyone who shoots a 30-06 with a scope already knows that. The companies that make the scopes know that. The eye must be about three inches back from the eyepiece before the shooter can see a clear image.
The shooter was an experienced shooter. Perhaps you have missed that finding, even though it has been repeated more than a thousand times on these threads.
What was the range and what round was used?
Believe your eyes.
People can tell you anything.
