Fans of the Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth were furious at her publicly grieving the assassination of political activist Charlie Kirk in Utah on Wednesday. The 57-year-old actress - who originated the role of Glinda on stage in Wicked - mourned Kirk's death on Wednesday on an Instagram comment on the final video he posted before he was shot in the neck by a gunman from the roof of a nearby building at Utah Valley University.
The shooter is still at large as FBI Director Kash Patel traveled to Utah on Thursday amid criticism for the bureau's inability to quickly apprehend the shooter and for his decision to fire the 'legendary' special agent in Utah who would have led the manhunt just a month earlier. However, many fans of Chenoweth didn't believe Kirk deserved any sympathy because he shared different political views from them.
Their fury at the actress led several users on X and Instagram label Chenoweth is a Republican, despite her support for Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election and her previously mocking President Donald Trump as part of her stage shows.

Good for Kristin. The ghouls got to ghoul. Maybe alot of once closed eyes and minds will undergo some soul searching once the frankensteins target them.

She’s giving up her career taking this stand.
Well I hope she finds a new avenue. She sounds like her soul is still intact.
They are angry she is grieving the murder of a husband and father. They left is just evil.
She has a lot of film and television work to get residuals from and a vocal talent second to none. While I disagree with her LGBwhatever support I take into account that she's primarily a Broadway star and that's their world there.
I saw a concert — Christmas concert, IIRC — featuring Chenoweth. And I think it was with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. It made me consider the possibility that she might be right leaning.

She followed her post up be sharing a post originating from X that called Kirk’s murder ‘horrifying and unacceptable.’
She gets attacked for being a decent and reflective person and expressing it. What a world we live in.
She’s a real mess. Reminds me of John Kerr’s wife at the nomination.

Maybe that’s where we are headed. I have been aware for some time of a spiritual sickness in the world that manifests itself in various ways. Of course, we saw it in the attitudes of some after the attempted assassination of President Trump. I just find myself particularly stunned by the reactions we are seeing to the murder of Charlie Kirk. How does anyone rejoice and celebrate another human being’s murder?
