Visibly angry and upset, Donald Trump described Charlie Kirk as a martyr for truth and freedom, as he paid tribute to a man he considered to be not just a close friend, but also someone who played a significant role in his re-election and in shaping the MAGA movement.
Trump directly blamed radical left-wing politics for contributing to this atrocity and other recent violent political attacks.
He noticeably did not mention recent murders and violent attacks against Democrats.
Often atrocities like this create an atmosphere of political unity.
Many senior politicians, both Democrats and Republicans, have responded by saying this kind of violence has no place in American democracy.
But there is also a widespread, furious and febrile reaction among followers of Trump and Kirk which is demanding retribution. This feels like a dangerous moment in America.

The BBC is the state-run media of an increasingly totalitarian government. One must always keep that in mind when the BBC criticizes the US in general or Trump specifically.

It IS a dangerous time in America, though. The fatigue with the unhinged left is real and they WILL pay. And if judges continue to rule based on race[ so called “restorative justice” like the kind that let the railway killer get released with a note] and politics [where leftists get a pass and conservatives get the book thrown at them], then there will be a further erosion and unraveling in our social fabric And they asked for it.

When you live in a country of peasants who are incapable of standing up to resist a government that arrests people for their social media posts, I imagine that even a girl’s volleyball game at a typical American high school looks like “a dangerous moment in America.”

This is deflection and distraction from the fact that the left want us dead. They celebrate each conservative death and they won’t be happy until we are all gone.

Somehow I doubt this BBC author bothered to note at the time of those murders of Democrats that no one mourning it bothered to mention the then recent assassination of the two GOP councilpeople in New Jersey.
