Utah authorities questioned and released a person of interest in the shooting of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk Wednesday afternoon, according to state and federal officials. Kirk, a 31-year-old father of two, died from his injuries.
"The subject for the horrific shooting today that took the life of Charlie Kirk is now in custody," FBI Director Kash Patel tweeted Wednesday. "Thank you to the local and state authorities in Utah for your partnership with @fbi."
Earlier, he wrote that the "subject" was in custody, and Republican Utah Gov. Spencer Cox referred to a "person of interest in custody."

Speculating it was a 6mm, 6.8mm or 7,62mm round. Without knowing what type armor he had.... ricochet seems unlikely. Spalling would occur from a hit that mushroomed a round. It wouldn’t take a very large piece of the bullet jacket slicing the carotid to be life-threatening.
He wasn’t aiming at his neck knucklehead. He was aiming for the head and missed a stationary target.
