Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky strongly objected after Vice President JD Vance asserted in a Saturday post on X that "Killing cartel members who poison our fellow citizens is the highest and best use of our military."
"JD ‘I don’t give a s[---]’ Vance says killing people he accuses of a crime is the ‘highest and best use of the military.’ Did he ever read To Kill a Mockingbird? Did he ever wonder what might happen if the accused were immediately executed without trial or representation??" Senator Paul wrote.

(Rand Paul gained my loyalty the day (2017) the psycho leftist neighbor he had nearly killed him. He was mowing and the jerk blindsided him with a full speed sprinting tackle. It punctured a lung and broke 6 ribs if I recall. The commie got a slap on the wrist (30 days in jail..original sentence, more added later).
Well with this one statement Rand Paul has lost every single bit of respect I had for him. I’m just confounded and confused.)
Same here. 👍👍👍
Rand is ALL talk.
Another Trey Gowdy.
Anyone can talk...even puppets.
The one mitigating factor here is that I understand that the cartel members were firing on a US helicopter before it was destroyed. In that situation I can see a deadly response as justified. OTOH, creating such a situation if you have a lower-key way to apprehend the target is just another evasion of due process.
Sounds like live fire practice and fun morale booster
Rand is a prisoner of his ideology. Ideology can give someone a framework, but if it turns into blind adherence, it crowds out critical thinking and good judgment.
Rand is doing this to garner attention Vance in a debate would absolutely eviscerate the guy. He’s prepping for Libertarian style presidential run in 28 just enough support to get matching funds then he’s gone
Didn’t George hw bush invaded Panama for that reason?
Obama pulled this tactic when he was in office iirc and I don’t recall people being enthused about it. jimho, it would have been better to track them and once they entered U.S. waters, obliterate them then.
“It’s like he had a mini stroke”
Maybe the chemicals in his perms are seeping into his brain. Looking at, and listening to, him and Massie I want to ask, “Which twin has the Toni?”
I’ve had great respect for Paul on many occasions. But his foreign relations and defense views can be very disappointing.
Stopping the massive inflow of dangerous drugs is essential for us. Many of Our major cities have thousands of people with lives destroyed
All
Other measures (including local introduction and trying to help the addicts) have proven ineffective or barely helpful.
Paul needs to rethink
Libertarian Party Platform:
Open borders: throw open the borders completely; only a rare individual (terrorist, disease carrier etc.) can be kept from freedom of movement through “political boundaries”, eliminate the Border Patrol and INS.
Homosexuals: total freedom in the military, gay marriage, adoption, child custody and everything else.
Abortion: zero restrictions or impediments full 9 months.
Pornography: no restraint, no restrictions, available to all.
Drugs; Meth, Heroin, Crack, and anything new that science and marketers can come up with, zero restrictions.
Prostitution: zero restrictions.
Military Strength: minimal capabilities.
Yes, something got shaken loose in Rand Paul’s head.
I think he has an inflated idea of his role as a senator - he thinks any executive action should first be approved by congress - and maybe that’s true in principle.
But congress has utterly failed - so We the People elected President Trump to go ahead and do some well-needed ass-kicking - with or without congressional approval.
Instead of worrying about whether President Trump is over-stepping his Constitutional authority in enforcing the law, Paul needs to worry about congress utterly failing to do its Constitutional duty.
I’m quite sure President Trump would prefer to defeat the cartels under a congressional declaration of war, if only congress would declare it.
But they won’t - just as they won’t pass a balanced budget - won’t close the border - won’t represent the voters that elected them.
They do the bidding of their K street masters.
Fix that problem Rand Paul - and until you do, let President Trump continue doing what he promised his voters he would do.

The libertarian platform supports almost unlimited immigration.
Rand should get rid of his jelly roll, for starters.
The US lost about 62,000 people in the eight years of Vietnam war. We lost more than 100,000 people to fentanyl in 2023 alone. The drug cartels are killing us. I’m for the military going after them.
One big difference you leave out. They were US citizens
