Rand has a point. I wonder how many of the Freepers ripping on him were outraged when Obama started droning people. You either support due process consistently or you support fascism when it is your guy in the White House.
The one mitigating factor here is that I understand that the cartel members were firing on a US helicopter before it was destroyed. In that situation I can see a deadly response as justified. OTOH, creating such a situation if you have a lower-key way to apprehend the target is just another evasion of due process.

It is entirely possible to support due process being required within the jurisdictional borders of the United States, but not support due process being required outside that jurisdiction.
That's a clear, brightline rule.
