Emma Stone says she believes in aliens.
The Oscar-winning actress made the confession on Thursday (Aug. 28) when she and director Yorgos Lanthimos appeared at the press conference for their new film Bugonia during the 2025 Venice International Film Festival.
When asked by a reporter whether she believes in a “higher intelligence looking upon us,” Stone gave a surprising take on the matter.
“I don't know about looking down on us,” Stone said at the one-hour, 24-minute mark of the video linked here. “One of my favorite people that has ever lived is Carl Sagan, and I watched his show Cosmos and fell madly in love with his philosophy and his science and how brilliant he seems to be.”
She continued, “And I think he very deeply believed that the idea that we are alone in this vast expanse of the universe—truly, not that we're being watched— but that we're alone out here is a pretty narcissistic thing to think.
“So yes, I'm coming out with it. I believe in aliens. Thank you,” she concluded, bringing audible laughter in the press conference.
Earlier in the conference, another reporter asked Stone how she manages fame “without turning into an alien.”
“How do you know I’m not an alien?” she playfully asked before reflecting more seriously on the challenges of public perception.
“There’s me, and then there’s like me here, if that makes sense,” she said. “I separate the two in my mind a little bit. … It's just different things to keep myself sane, I guess.”
Bugonia will hit theaters on Oct. 24.
I vaguely recall Quix. Was he an alien? Or a True Believer?
>> I think demons are a product of the human mind.
I believe demons are quite real. Jesus knows...
Quix definitely believed in “Demons” and non-human bipedal entities.
Does she mean the one’s that more her lawns?
Do aliens exist?
Probably.
Could they come here?
Possibly.
Are they here?
Unlikely.
Have they been here?
Not likely in recorded history.

Hey, *I* believe in demons! And “bipedal nonhuman entities”, aka “angels”.
Demons are easy to perceive. Did you see the clips of the Obamas at the last DemonRat convention?
If they supposedly are here, where did they come?
Are they in reality the Nephilum? 📖
Why did God destroy the world, save Noah and his own?📖
Mow her lawns that is. How did that get so F’d up I wonder?

“Some say...”

I wondered too — got an LOL out of me though!

“”Cats and humans share a symbiotic relationship.””
I’m not feeling very symbiotic right about now. My cat is sitting there meowing...(bitching) because she wants me to get up and go get her something “else” to eat. I’ve already given her four different things to eat today... Temptations Seafood Medly, Friskies Party Mix Beachside Crunch, Fancy Feast Chicken appetizer AND a Sheba roasted chicken entree. But nooooo! That’s not good enough.
That’s it! I want a raise and a vacation. This job’s starting to suck.
On this question I like the Fermi Paradox. Also, God can do whatever he pleases and wherever he pleases he can create life or not and keep it exclusive to earth. There is just no hard evidence of life anywhere else in the universe that we can explore. Just lots of conjecture and probability.
I would say the conditions for intelligent life being replicated elsewhere are equally astronomically unlikely.
How do you detect something that is beyond the range of your instruments or ability to contact?
It could be that the distances can never be overcome, but that isn’t proof that life elsewhere doesn’t exist.
Perhaps other planets have life, but not life that possesses moral agency. Life that isn't capable of sin, no matter what it does.
How big is the Universe?
I had the pleasure of being acquainted with Alex Abian for a while before he died:

Proposing destroying the moon? Nuttier than squirrel poop!
The moon is a huge factor (beyond God's grace) in why life, and intelligent life, was able to develop on Earth!
- oversized iron core from moon-creating "Theta" collision gives us a solar-wind shielding magnetic field;
- plate tectonics due to that big iron core led to atmospheric gasses and hotspots that catalyze chemical reactions;
- stable axis thanks to the moon's stabilizing influence leads to consistent, predictable seasons;
- moon phase rhythms act as a biological clock for many life forms;
- the moon has shielded us from many harmful meteors;
- the moon is a reachable place for space programs to visit;
- etc. etc.
I love the moon - way more than Mars!
