Venezuela: Trump sends a message to Maduro
American Thinker ^ | 3 Sep, 2025 | Monica Showalter

There probably isn't a more useful policy aim for the U.S. than taking out Venezuela's socialist regime.

President Trump has hundreds of thousands of Venezuelan illegal aliens, including many criminals who have wrought mayhem, to deported and sending back to a democracy will be a lot easier. Venezuela's regime has served as a useful catspaw to multiple anti-American dictators, including China's oligarchs, the Russian regime, and the Iranian mullahs to keep the U.S. in check, propping up the otherwise bankrupt regime in power to harass the U.S. They've threatened and attempted to destabilize their neighbors. And close to President Trump's heart, they are the motherlode, the source orgin, of modern election fraud done on a wide scale. How satisfactory that would be to take them out for that alone and replace the regime with the one the voters voted for.

So yesterday, we saw this, the result of Trump dispatching seven warships and 4,500 U.S. military personnel to the international waters off the Venezuelan coast: [X post at link]

Blown out of the water. And lefties are going into fill Abrego-Garcia mode, wringing their hands, even though past presidents, such as Barack Obama, launched plenty of strikes against civilian targets, and indeed the Navy itself has taken out drug boats in the past.

Taking out drugs will kill their economy.

“Taking out drugs will kill their economy.”

SOCIALISM has already killed their economy! They are one of the most oil-rich spots on the PLANET - and they couldn’t even make hay with THAT ridiculous ADVANTAGE in this world!

I want the drug venues of this world DESTROYED.

Showater is quite good, and IIRC, spent time in the area professionally [journalist?].

She mentions two alternatives/salients.

A third is that Trump sends a message elsewhere—to the Mexican cartels, as to what they can expect.

Apparently our military and CIA have been ordered out of Ukraine by Trump and into the Caribbean and Baja, and have been harvesting signals intelligence for months; reading for military on cartel kinetic action.

This was the opening salvo.

Transparencia Venezuela estimates that drug trafficking generated a gross income of $8.2 billion in Venezuela in 2024. This reflects the upsurge in neighboring Colombia’s cocaine production.

They must be off-loading onto other boats. I hope the Navy has watched these boats long enough to have an idea of the network. Venezuela will now have to distribute in other ways. Drone drops? Is their comm compromised? This really puts a crimp in their act.

But just a few days ago CNN published a story the Trump is lying about Venezuelan drug gangs smuggling dope in to the country. Of course they use to obligatory “Trump claims, without evidence.”

Is CNN lying to us?

Might be necessary to take some of the smaller local players off the board before the big dustup with EastAsia.

Pretty much NOW, starting now, attention is going to shift to the expiring Continuing Resolution, and the Democrats will demand “adjustment” to what is in the BBB for the next year.

That plus a tariff ruling is going to erase any foreign policy focus. This could go on for months as the deadline hits and all they can get is 30 days and then 30 days and then 30 days.

Dr. Steve Turley talked about it yesterday. Maduro thought President Donald J Trump is weak and not going to do anything, but he got a lesson on FAFO... 😀

Odd tidbit: Richard Nixon talked her out of pursuing a law degree. Pretty funny story as she tells it.

“One good bullet, is there no one there that will do it?”

The ingredients are motive and opportunity. The people who have the motive don’t have the opportunity. The people who have the opportunity don’t have the motive. You’d need to find someone with the opportunity and provide them with the motive. How would you find that person? I’m guessing the human intelligence around Maduro is lacking. Also, the vast majority are enmeshed in whatever their culture is. It’s rare that someone would do something that will forever separate them from friends and family. There are sociopaths and psychopaths, but they’re like dealing with sweating dynamite.

The only practical way is from the outside.
